The Wrackshore Settlement in Jennara | World Anvil

The Wrackshore

The Wrackshore is a south end reservation to which the native Crustasha have been herded. A Great Wall erected by the The Temple of the Grasping Waters and patrolled by the Shelley Coats guards the rest of Portsmouth   Much of the settlement is coated in barnacles and coral. Many a shipwreck that has gone the wrong direction or fallen victim to currents and run aground has been repurposed into homes and lairs of the Crustasha

Demographics

The population of the Wrackshore is almost entirely Crustasha with the exception of a few members of the Reef Sharks who are able to communicate with them.

Government

The Wrackshore persists in a state of total anarchy. This is in part due to the aggressive and shortsighted to the Crustashas short sighted relationship to the crab. As of recent the Crustasha do have a chieftain known as Clustas Ra who has lived a shocking forty years. In the clicking language of the Crustasha he is known as he who remembers.

Defences

The Wrackshore's greatest defenses are it's coral reef's which keep boats from sailing into harbor. The wall of Portsmouth keeps both sides mutually safe from one another.

Industry & Trade

The Crustasha  know no other way than fishing. Crustasha who venture beyond the aquatic perimeter know they are taking a chance with their lives and might potentially be fished themselves. Crustasha are to humans good eating. Such activity is discouraged among the Maw and other fisherman of Portsmouth to maintain peace.    The Crustasha on the Wrackshore do outnumber the citizens of Portsmouth

Infrastructure

Crustasha have stacked together the numerous wrecks to create a system of repurposed ships that make scraping coral defenses of the city. To sail into the Wrackshore is a deadly venture indeed.

History

Before the pirate migration of in 1230 the area known as the Port Mouth of Jennara was over run by the coastal crab people the Crustasha Most ships that tried to make their way through the mouth were ground up by the reefs and eaten by the natives . Pirates settled into the caves along the bank  When gold started making its way from Borea City Portsmouth  began as a settlement. The The Temple of the Grasping Waters the Reef Sharks  formed the Shelley Coats and pushed the Crustasha  back into a region that was blocked off by a magically created wall of ice that was reinforced with stone.  Now Portsmouth is a bustling center of trade for all of Jennara, but a barbaric race claws at its doorstep.

Architecture

The wrack shore is composed of ruins of ships and docks repurposed and grown over with coral and barnacles. Little to know effort has been made to compensate for the tide and currents that lap over the land as such buildings are wasteland aquatic land hybrids.
What ships got left behind in the Wrackshore are no longer ships but have melded into the razor teeth off the coastline
