Atark
Atark is a bustling city full of life and joy. The city is built up the side of a high seaside mountain. At the top of the mountain is a massive fortress castle. 80% of its population can track their lineage back to the cities founder, an ancient gold dragon, Sestius. This has resulted in the bulk of the population being draconic bloodline sorcerers.
Demographics
Most humanoids races are present in the city as well as a significant number of half-dragons.
The class system revolves around lineage. If your family have an unbroken line of draconic sorcerers you are likely to be at the top of society. Being from a family with sorcerers but not being a sorcerer yourself does leave one in a precarious position. Family's with no connection to Sestius or a generation or more without a sorcerer will leave you at the bottom of society.
Also, do to the nature of most everyone being magical, those in not artistic or intellectual jobs are looked down upon. For example people working in the military are looked down upon because it is seen as a job for lazy or individuals lacking any skill.
Government
The city is ruled by Sestius, who takes advice from a small group of trusted advisers.
Defences
The castle has three sets of walls. The first set of walls contains a semi public region and the entrance to Atark’s prison. The second section has the Atark military barracks and training yards. Third interior wall was around a courtyard and the keep where Sestius still resides.
The city is also populated almost entirely by sorcerers, making every civilian a force to be reckoned with.
Industry & Trade
Atark is a minor trade center as stopping point for ships traveling from Krata south. It also is home to artisans of all kinds. Artists, blacksmiths, carpenters, writers, and book binder, etc.
History
Founded when Sestius landed on the top of the mountain and declared it his peoples nation.
