The Ward Settlement in Irindor | World Anvil

The Ward

the Ward is an ancient stronghold that historically held some strategic significance before and after the long night.

Demographics

Primarily human, with a good deal of dwarven members, and sparse elves.

Government

a military base, the government of the settlement entirely revolves around the needs of the military personel and the security of the region.

Defences

the Ward has tall, strong walls of Stone reinforced with Adamantine braces.towers and battlements are spread along the walls to cover blindspots during a siege, and protect archers and siege weapons.

Industry & Trade

as a military base, the Ward often trades in raw materials they confiscate from traders and pirates. they will also on occasion levy materiels they require from nearby settlements.

Assets

the Ward boasts a large military force that patrols the norther section of Krogar and the Sea of Storms. they have a smaller Navey despite most of their conflicts being involved with the Pirates from Ravan.

History

the Ward was established centuries before Long Night, as such its early history can be difficult to trace. Northern Krogar had an orc infestation that the Ward was charged with defending the inner kingdoms from, in return they would be given resorces to man a propper defense. after the Long Night however, old alliances were broken as few human kingdoms remained. now the Ward serves a new, if similar, purpose of defending the realm from Ravan pirates, though now without the support of kingdoms with a proper infrastructure the military presence must find alternative means to sustain itself.

Architecture

the buildings in the ward are military structures, and have very practical designs, similar to dwarves but without their religious influence.

Geography

the area surrounding the Ward is cold tundra for miles and miles until you pass the Empty Peaks many miles to the southeast.

Natural Resources

there is very little in the Frozen north for the Ward to lay claim to, though the Empty peaks have rich minneral and ore deposits.
