Feyport

"The Grand Fey Port, eh? That city is deep, deep within the enchanted forests. Best be careful if you're going to the feywild. Tricksters, those fey."
— Chester, bartender of the Ragged Flagon in Hillfar

The Town of Feyport

Is a large, bustling city on the edge of the biggest, most reliable Feywild portal known to Mer and Man this side of the Ischerian Sea. Tucked away in the northern enchanted woods of the Empire, this town is quite the trip for even neighboring cities to make, yet it still sees its fair share of travelers. The Lord's Manor sits on a hill to the northeast, overlooking the circular city, almost reminiscent of a fairy circle. In the very center of the city is the market square, filled with plenty of places to visit.

Points of Interest:

  • The large fountain in the center of town with a statue of a striking young woman in a beautiful but somber dress, holding a tressym in one arm and a spilling pitcher in the other. This is the daughter of the first Lord of Feyport, which disappeared on a night of a full moon some time ago. Rumor has it she fell victim to lycanthropes, which were then hunted viciously by the lord's men.
  • Spirited Away - The local tavern & inn, run by Kra'ax Three Claw, a hulking Half-Dragon that’s surprisingly well-mannered. Their waitress is the Ghost of Sel'seren, the previous tavern keeper who died a few years ago and haunts the establishment. She was a gorgeous elven woman who treated all her guests like family. People who stay the night in this inn report having their covers pulled over them on cold nights on their own and mugs of ale being refilled on their own. Have open mic nights every Chaunday. All dishes are served with a garnish of yew leaf, and most dinnerware is silver; the last vestige of a mostly forgotten anti-werewolf superstition.
  • Rory’s Emporium - A large shopfront set up in front of a lovely caravan wagon that sells weapons, ammo, and armor, as well as enchantments for them. This is where Naomi’s family shopfront used to be, now owned by Rory Chaffigan.
  • Read N’ Mead - A large bookstore owned and run by a young woman named Paige that sells magic mead to help you study. She took over her family’s business and improved it with the introduction of the mead and a spell on all of the books to make them water and fireproof. A pint of Paige’s Mist Apple Mead costs 5 cp and gives an advantage on any checks that involve reading or studying books for 1 hour.
  • Humble Brags - A large building that looks like two different stores smashed into one. Upon entry, one half of the store is regular, affordable clothes with a modest shop feel, the other high-end fashion with walls adorned by gems and velvet curtains. Run by a pair of siblings that both inherited their late parent’s clothing store, but couldn't agree on anything. Their weird take on solving their problems actually seems to have worked for the business.
  • Kabooms and Korpses - A fireworks store that has been almost completely blackened by numerous incidents. Run by a goblin inventor who is also an amateur undertaker, offers to use some of his bigger rockets to give loved ones a glorious send-off.
  • Boil & Bubble - Alchemy and apothecary shop for potions, tinctures, ingredients, tools, cauldrons, and carrying cases. Run by a lovely old lady that lives off of caffeine.
  • The Pawned Pollywog - Pawn shop that buys just about anything, ran by a purple grung.
  • The Eminent Enchantress - Magic shop run by the Witch Marette. Specializes in curse removals, pact removals, and magical items.
  • Munsters R Us - A tiny Pug stands on a crate, hollering in broken common to come over. He'll buy your scavenged monster parts (albeit at varying prices) from you. If you give him enough, he'll turn them into an item. It's disturbing, but how can you resist his cute lil' face?
  • Dundragon Family Goods - This store appears to be an average general goods store run by a small family of three; a father (Cedric), a mother (Jeanine), and a daughter (Ophelia), but any local criminal will know that "Dundragon Family Goods" is actually the best place to find illegal supplies without attracting attention, as the whole family knows thieves cant.
  • Bein Kirke - “Bone Church,” this large Catholic-style Cathedral is decorated and furnished almost entirely of bones. Thus the town needs no cemetery. Has small shrines for most gods somewhere throughout its three stories.

The Black Market:

  • Skeleton Shop - A large underground complex selling all kinds of animate skeletal animals. The owner is a jovial skeleton who only accepts currency taken by force, without the previous owner's consent.
  • The Sleazy Merchant - A small shopfront where magical items can be bought for just a few copper or silver.
  • Kesheki's Weapon Shop - A store in the darkest corner of the town run by a curiously well-mannered female gnoll, Kesheki. The shop sells all kinds of the most exotic and vicious weapons imaginable. The only currency Kesheki will accept is the scalps of humanoids, the stronger the creature the scalp was taken from the more valuable the scalp is.
  • Madame Tralancet's Veritable Shop of Disguises and Costumes for the Modern Journeyman - She has an enormous selection of suspiciously cheap costumes, disguise kits, wigs, and other fake parts. She has seven drawers bulging with mustaches alone.
  • Sprog's Spirits - A dark shop run by a well-tempered and grim half-orc. Its shelves are filled with bottles that Sprog claims hold the spirits of the dead.
  • Whispers & Secrets - The only goods bought and sold here are rumors, secrets, and other generally unknown information. You cannot pay with traditional currency; instead, you must offer hidden information of your own to barter with.
  • Seamus the Imp Peddler - A traveling peddler, riding a covered cart led by a mule, sits to the side in the alleyway.
“There is something wrong in our town. We’ve always had bizarre occurrences, being on the edge of the Feywild, but this is something different. We are terrified, as are the citizens - or whats left of them anyway.”
— Ignatius Creed, on the Investigation

Investigation

  • While scouting at night the group encountered a small group of shadows as well as a fresh corpse. Due to the party not seeing or hearing anything, the conclusion is that the creature responsible is invisible and aided by the shadows.
  • The shadows seem to be made up of corrupted trapped souls and harnessed negative energy, such as fear and rage.
  • The black market, while ominous at best, does not seem to have any links to the murders or shadows. Its small pocket dimension does seem to be safe from them, though.
  • As Ignatius said, there is a pretty gnarly rodent problem. Rats and bats are alarmingly common in town.
