The Seer's Tower

"They say you can see anything from the top. Funny, considering you can't see the top from here."
— Feyport laborer

Seemingly Abandoned and Crumbling

The tower rises far above the forest, its peak perpetually lost to clouds. Its needle-like structure doesn't seem like it should be able to stand on its own, and yet it does, silent, cold, and watchful. Climbing it is a reportedly impossible task, so much so that a legend has come about that if you can get to the top, it's rumored you can see all of the realms and get the answers to any question you seek. You know that is ridiculous, of course. Your party has seen the top and learned the mystery of the observatory. The clouds that surround it are magical and can show you anything if you can focus hard enough on it.

Ascending the Tower

A living face greeted you when you first arrived and you had to talk your way past him. You documented the floors in the tower as you went and reported back to the Duchesses, and you found the Elven Seer that has been missing for ages. Speaking with the two gnomes that protect and look after her during her slumber, they tell you she can be awakened with a Greater Restoration spell, but will probably just go back to sleep unless her love returns. The floors are listed here, in order from the bottom floor to the top floor:
Floor Room Contents
1 The Foyer This was once an ornate foyer of some sort filled with trinkets, paintings, busts, statuettes, and four suits of armor; two at each door.
2 Sitting Room This was the waiting room for customers when the Seer was busy. Animated cleaning objects are trying in vain to keep this crumbling room spotless for would-be visitors.
3 The Scrying Room The room customers would come to for their appointments. Filled with Tarot, runes, bones, stones, sticks, divining rods, books, items, small medicines, and apothecaric concoctions. Large round table in the middle with a crystal ball and a deck of Oracle cards. There is an archway for a portal that, after you powered it up, leads up to the 7th floor.
4 Gnomes' Quarters Once a modest, but beautiful room, all of the furniture is miniature. The four beds were clearly made for small creatures, and the whole floor is set up as a really nice three-bedroom apartment of sorts.
5 Food Pantries A large sectioned-off storage room for magically preserved food with a large magically powered larder (fridge) packed full of preserved meats and cheeses. Everything in here is still fresh somehow, and there are fresh herbs that have been newly strung up to dry out. Massive wine rack wraps around the majority of the exposed wall.
6 The Kitchens A crumbling kitchen that is surprisingly still in good condition. More animated cleaning supplies.
7 Drawing Room A gallery of magical moving paintings that can be entered. The only wall that doesn't have stained glass or paintings has an arch on it, identical to the one in the scrying room. It is a portal between the two floors.
8 Library An expansive library full of books, some floating around or moving from shelf to shelf, and any books pulled put themselves away. If you are too loud you are shushed by a moving painting of a librarian.
9 Astronomy Observatory A room for star gazing and charting. Magical equipment, including a telescope that allows you to see the stars at any time of day. The last thing being studied was the Leo Constellation.
10 Crystal Portal Room A room full of energy crystal shards surrounding one large floating crystal. Powers the magic of the tower and keeps it magically upright. Has six one-way portals that go to the Lord’s Manor in Feyport, a receiving room in one of the Noble's Manors, and somewhere in each of the Fey Court Citadels. The iridescent shimmering crystal shards floating about emanate immense arcane power.
11 Alchemical Laboratory Once meant for experiments and alchemy, it has fallen into disrepair. The magical console is covered in buttons, switches, and levers.
12 Ingredient Stockroom Floor-to-ceiling shelves and containers for alchemical and medicinal ingredients, bottles, vials, supplies for the laboratory, cleaning supplies, linens, towels, etc.
13 Day Room An elegant room that's clearly been well taken care of for relaxing.
14 Illusory Patio Room Looks like you are outside but it is an illusion spell. A small waterfall on the wall makes a small pond filled with little fish, frogs, snails, etc. The floor is mostly grass, save for a small rounded patio with intricately designed elven table and chairs on it. Drinking from the pond heals you.
15 Enchanted Greenhouse Upon entering, the ceiling is magically enchanted to allow the natural sun in. Once a stunning magical garden, due to lack of upkeep it is far overgrown, and some of the plants have mutated.
16 Grand Observatory The clouds that blocked the view of the tower's top are magical and from this side reveal magical screens that can be used to see anything you wish with enough concentration. With good enough perception checks you can even see possible details and “zoom in” on groups, towns, and people.
17 Stately Loft Apartment A well-preserved, lush apartment that is in good condition compared to the rest of the tower. In the living space, a tiny mechanized world has been built. Water collecting systems have been built, little gardens and greenhouses, a small contained world, perfectly designed to make going outside completely unnecessary. Two tiny gnomes greet you, Gerbo & Orla, siblings born in the tower, now carrying out their parent’s duties of caring for the sleeping form of the Elven Seer Serelaylyn herself, who is in a magical sleep in a glass case in the tower.
“Legend has it the tower holds the answers to the future and the unknown, and a powerful elven seer used to reside there. We've never recorded any activity there, and no one's made it very far, but there's strange magic emanating from somewhere up in those clouds. Pack well though, we don't know how tall it is.”
— Ignatius Creed, on the Investigation

Investigation

  • The tower has been scaled and cleared of threats, and each floor documented. There are portals that lead to various places of great importance near the top, an observatory that can magically show you anywhere in the world if you can focus in on it, and an apartment at the top with the Elven Seer in a coma.
  • The Seer put herself into a coma because she couldn't find her lover that had gone missing on a mission. The duchesses have looked into this 'Gaelira'.
  • Gaelira, the Hero of Rhode Hill is the identity of the missing lover. It looks like she went missing on a mission to the feywild.
