Priest

Description

"Chosen by their worshiped Deity, a Priest is a worthy mortal vessel for their deity's power. By using constant prayer they're able to obtain divine intervention in their daily life; from battling unholy beings to purifying food/drink for the masses. Although their skill set is usually smaller than that of the other known classes, their utility & ability to keep everyone healthy is beyond that of most of the others" -Class Description from The World of Idoria TTRPG

Background

Unlike the Champions, Priests' typically aren't fit for executing grand and ambitious plans that their deity may have. Instead they're usually the most peaceful option, wishing to prevent a battle from happening in the first place or healing those who are injured after a brawl.

A Priest is normally found within a church, temple, or mortuary, when they're not assisting on an adventure. Here they preach to their congregation(s), perform holy rituals of marriage, among others, and perform the deceased's funeral rites.

While accompanying other Adventurers on their journeys, they typically are in charge of making sure the dead remain so & that wounds aren't left to fester. All while they spread the gospel of their deity and fend off those who wish to oppose them.

Some of the miracles they regularly perform are: healing the sick, ridding an area of the undead, translating in languages they've never heard before, and repairing what was once thought to be beyond repair.

Priests are amongst one of the very few Classes capable of resurrection with enough experience and divine preference. Though what sets them apart, even with this miracle, is that when they perform this ritual the soul and body are reunited as if nothing even happened. Other methods of resurrection often result in the body and/or soul being damaged to some degree.
