Letter from Anvar

After a King of Illtresi mysteriously vanished, the Queen looked through her husbands old belongings and correnspondence in an attempt to find a reason for his sudden disappearance. Among a stack of old tucked-away letters she found a mysterious envelope. Black as night with purple flashes through the paper was by all means not a common product to use. Her curiousity got the better of her and she opened the letter. As the widow reads the contents of the letter, her heart sinks into her chest tunneling to the darkest corner.

Hello my dear King, As you know, it is I who is responsible for the dread that has befallen over Havalla. But fear not, your subjects are safe.. That is, if you commit to the deal we made long ago. You have what you wanted; you have your fame, your family, and your position now as King of Illtresi. It is time to uphold your end of the bargain. You know where to find me.

The Queen sits down in her husbands chair, letter still in her hands. For a moment, she simply stares at it her brain mulling over the contents before getting up to search the entire office for more black envelopes. She finds only one which contained a small handdrawn map of Havalla and Theorston Thicket. The route leads to the Tower of Anvar right through the heart of the forest known for absorbing anyone who dares making their way through it. What business did her beloved husband have with this... evil force?

The Queen delivered this letter to me in person a great many years ago, and has since passed. I vividly remember that one dark evening she wandered into my tavern all alone, her cloak still dripping from the heavy thunderstorm outside. She took me by the arm and dragged me to the backroom.

"Here," she whispered and handed me a bundle of black envelopes, "something happened to my husband. If you ever come across someone investigating the archmage and his thicket, be sure to give them this. It might help or give some clues."

She left as fast as she entered the tavern...
