Yashidal

Yashidal is, to be precise, just the demonym of the Yashidal people, so Yashidal citisens so to speak.

However, if it is used in terms of ethnicity within Yashidal nationalist movements, it typically means "those who are native to Yashida" and becomes more of an umbrella term for the ethnicities within Yashida since around the Unification Wars. This excludes people with different origins that came to Yashida through any form of migration and also makes the status of the Qoshwa Islanders unclear. In this context, though, children of mixed origin are considered Yashidal, though, and even more undoubtly so if the birth mother is of Yashidal origin.

Naming Traditions

Family names

The family name is rarely changed from the crib to the deathbed - even if married, Yashidal keep their family's name. The only instance the family name is changed occures with the adoption of an orphaned minor, and only if the child wishes to obtain the adopting parent's name.
The easiest family name is to determine for a child with only their natural parent (birthing mother) and no other adoptive parent known.
With an adoptive parent, typically the eldest child is expected to continue the family's name, even more so if they are an only-child. Does their partner have siblings or even is a younger sibling, the other partner's family name is chosen. Are both an only-child or the eldest sibling, the family's name is determined by who provides more economic stability and wealth or has the more noble family line.
