The Leagalla Aristocracy
A land of little formal government, Leagalla represents a type of freedom for many people. However its strong connection to the Fey Wilds presents a type of danger that both entices and repels many from its enchanted lands.
Culture
Secrecy is a common thing in Leagalla among the rulers. The Wardens themselves are shrouded in mystery. The Seelie and Unseelie courts even more so. The common people are usually left to their own devices and rarely encounter the fey courts. The people are generally friendly and welcoming until mention of either the wardens or the fey. At which point the mood changes drastically to distant and abrasive. It is not a subject to discussed openly in the smaller communities. The larger cities, their presence is more felt than seen. Words are choosen carefully, and deals are everywhere. Magic is common in the towns, and haggling is a commonality.
The people of Legalla are usually considered to be superstitious. A common tradition is to put a bowl of milk out for the fey to appease them and as presents. Deals are treated carefully, every word is painstakingly chosen before being spoken. During full moons iron is used to bar all windows and doors to keep the people of smaller communities safe from any wondering fey creatures. There are many folk stories regarding the fey, what is true and not is uncertain, but all are treated carefully in Legalla.
Public Agenda
While they push trade, they rarely tend to get involved with the affairs of other nations.
History
The last nation to colonize Gromlin, Leagalla's founding was mysterious as various cities and the fey just appeared overnight fully built and in prestine order. Leagalla is often looked at as a constant stable region, despite its cut-throat internal polotics. Throughout history, in times of conflict, they would often removed themselves from the situation, watching the outcome carefully, using war as a final alternative. Sadly however the actions of the various members of The Fey Courts have led to direct confrontation with the other nations.
Demography and Population
No formal census has been taken, with the rifts to the Feywild dotting the lands it is hard to say the exact number or demographics of the populace. The Seelie and Unseelie are condsidered a seprate and upper class of citizen.
Military
The fighting force of the Leagalla is mostly unknown due to the mysterious nature of the Fey. What is known is that when the Unseelie and Seelie themselves ride into battle, extremely powerful magic is used to devastating effect. Their regular army is raised from a militia from the local towns and baronies. Although the basic army is not the strongest, it is their elite forces of the Wardens and Fey that are the true power and not to be underestimated.
Religion
There is no national religion of Legalla, however it is very common to find large chapels or even cathedrals to various deities in their larger cities. Among the common folk the most popular of the gods are Ether goddess of prophecy, her husband Emos god of time, Praemark god of magic, or Cyphus the god of chance and Luck. It rumored that religion is actively discouraged among the Wardens, but since no one knows who the Wardens truely are, it is near impossible to varify.
Foreign Relations
In regards to relations to the other nations, Leagalla tends remain neutral. They maintian strong trade agreements with all the nations, but anyone who makes an agreement will need to read the contracts carefully, as the trust level in Leagallans is never high. The elements of the Fey courts complicates matters immensily, as each Fey Lord and Lady has their own agenda and wants that they pursue, even if it against the nations best interests.
Laws
The laws of the nation are left to be maintained by the Court of Mortals for the most part, and the Wardens who look after the Feys interest. The Wardens are looked at as the leaders and keepers of the peace across the land. While Wardens have no juristion over the Barons in what laws are enacted, they do have a lot of influence in their actions. The Wardens are lead by the figure known as the Steward. Many of the laws and systems of justice seems similar to Raelon, until a Warden is involved. When a Warden takes a criminal or a party to see the Fey, rarely are they seen again. Certain areas of Leagalla is forbidden to all to tresspass, unless invited entrance, which is not to be declined under pain of death. If a member of the Fey Court makes a decree of proclamation, it must be fufilled, this can sometimes cause problems if it goes against orders from another member of The Court.
Agriculture & Industry
The lands of the Leagallan Aristocarcy are fertile and affluent in bio-diversity. Farm lands and lumber yards dart the lands, most own by various larger houses in the cities. Roads are well maintend and traveled, and life would look somewhat idealic from an agricultrualist perspective. School systems teach even the smaller communities and keep the populace well educated, though it would be fair to call them "Trade Schools'.
As with many nations, the rural areas will gather and produce the more raw materials, while the cities will refine them to trade goods, and that is no exception in Leagalla. However the added benifit of an abundance of magic users and tradesmen tend to keep everything working at an extremely fast pace that many rural areas have a hard time keeping up. This will sometimes lead to hiring in magic services or Fey Bargins.
Trade & Transport
Trade is the life's blood of the Leagallan Aristocarcy. The vast size of the merchant fleet is rumored to dwarf all the other fleets, both merchant and naval, combined. This trades are seen through out all of Gromlin, from the streets of Raelon, to the high towers of Selwen, the depths of Mirathis, and even the shadowed cities of Plutoria. Many merchants even sell their services to act as "Middle man" for many contracts and bargins.
Its closest trade partner is Clan Peakworks, of the United Clans of Mirathis. The Leagallan's have strong ties with this particular clan, shipping many of their goods and ores out to the world.
Education
Each town sees to its own education system, however many of the large towns will offer tutors and experts to help teach anyone who can afford the costs. With an ecomonmy that is in fine shape, this has meant many of the smaller communities still has a fairly well educated populace.
Infrastructure
The shippling lanes and roads that cross the whole of Leagallan territory are some of the finest in all of Gromlin. Constantly patrolled and clean by the private bank accounts of the barons.
Tenets of Faith
Much of the traditions and tenets of the local religiosna and temples tend to revolve around the portections of family and home against the unnatural. This is extremely common in the smaller communities, but less so in the large cities where the Fey Courts have more sway and discourage such "suppersttious nonsense".
Priesthood
There are no, formally recgonized forms of worship or religious orders in Leagalla, though they are still in existence. Several smaller communities tend to have a local order with little to no real power, but help tend the faith of the populace
