Scarnetti Consortium (skar-NEH-tee khun-SAWR-shee-uhm)

A conglomeration of Titus Scarnetti's holdings

While a member of the Sandpoint Town Council, and a technical part-owner of the Sandpoint Mercantile Consortium, local businessman and aristocrat Titus Scarnetti has divested his assets entirely from the Mercantile League and built up an unofficial mercantile consortium of his interests as a direct rival. Scarnetti has bolstered his presence in Sandpoint’s industries, and he controls the entirety of local lumber production and the local grain mill, making him a force to be reckoned with. The Scarnetti Consortium is run by the Scarnettis themselves from their manor

This is a faction. Reputation will rise and fall based on favors and disservices.

Structure

Titus Scarnetti is the whole of the leadership, ruling with an iron fist. Beneath him are the various people he has appointed to run his businesses.

Culture

Scarnetti finds the Sandpoint Mercantile League far too egalitarian for his desires. He seeks profit, and he does not really care who gets hurt in the process.

Public Agenda

To increase the wealth of the Scarnetti Family.

Assets

The Scarnetti family has significant wealth and the ability to hire mercenaries. Titus Scarnetti has an ownership stake in the Sandpoint Mercantile League, and a permanent seat on the Town Council.

History

As the Sandpoint Mercantile League became more and more accepting of "peasant" merchants and the idea of prosperity for all townsfolk. Titus Scarnetti became more and more dissatisfied. He craves wealth. Having achieved a monopoly over Sandpoint's lumber and grain mills, he decided the time was right to separate, at least partially, from the Sandpoint Mercantile League.

The Sczarni are the hyenas to the Scarnetti Lion. He uses them frequently to do his dirty work, and in return they get the scraps of his wealth and favor.

The Clerisy remains studiously neutral on the subject of Scarnetti, lest his needed support dwindle.

Scarnetti couldn't care less about the Scholars, and beyond ill-will toward Scarnetti in general, the feeling is mutual.

Many Sandpoint citizens hold great animosity toward Scarnetti, who for his part sees them as just a resource to exploit. There are some, however, who see him as an admirable figure, and others whose livelihood depends on him.

Sheriff Hemlock suspects Scarnetti of illegal dealings, but as of yet has been unable to prove it.

Even while technically a part owner of the Mercantile League, Scarnetti has divested all of his businesses from it and runs them in competition. He has no sway over the League save his enormous wealth, and they, in turn, oppose his consortium as much as they can without shutting down trade.
