Kalis Swamp

The Kalis Swamp1 is a region in western Laxilþía, around the lower Velx River and its delta, between the jungles of Pakróalx to the north and the rolling hills of Grúmalx to the south, both provinces of the empire of Resak.
The swamp has historically been inhabited by a number of tribes who made their living by fishing, hunting waterfowl, turtles and crocodile and growing crops on artificial islands, most of whom have now merged with or been supplanted by the Rexans.
Resak's capital, Arkis, and other major rexan settlements are located in the Kalis Swamp.

Geography
The region is fairly flat, safe for a few hills where most of the major settlements are located.
Fauna & Flora
The swamp and mangroves along the coast are teeming with wildlife, including numerous species of fish and fowl, amphibians and insects. Turtles, crocodiles, Pardi, boars, tapirs, parrots and monkeys are all commonly found in the region.
