Melsaetus
Melsaetus (pronounced somewhere between mel·sae·tus or mal·saet·us) is a province of the Kingdom of Gararden and is a part of the Hearthlands region.
The area around its capital, Lowe's Rest, was a source of many ruins and relics of the Seldur Civilisation in the early years of the Kingdom. Melsaetians take great pride in the notion that Lowe's Rest is a continuation of an ancient trading port.
With the recent surge in international trade Lowe's Rest has become the biggest port in the kingdom and is slowly eroding Ereshold's position as the largest economic power in the area.
Melsaetus' current governor is Maya Goldsmith who only took the position in 419 NK. The second Goldsmith to hold the position, she is also the youngest governor in the kingdom. To counter accusations that her youth makes her unsuitable as a leader, Maya has continuously made large gambles on investments and projects across the province. Whether through savvy or sheer luck almost all of these investments have succeeded.
Lowe's Rest is also a centre of guild activity in the kingdom. The constant influx of skilled workers (combined with some mismanagement by previous administrations) has given the guilds considerable power. Many of the larger guilds have headquarters in Lowe's Rest.
