Harpa

The coldest and most desolate of Orichlan’s provinces, Harpa stretches across the eastern coast, where the Bay of Scripture is locked in ice for most of the year. Here, the land is a frozen expanse of endless white, where snowdrifts bury entire villages and the winds howl like spirits mourning their dead. The settlements that exist here are scattered and sparse, built from stone and reinforced against the bitter cold.   The capital of the province, Mevop, is a fortress of solitude, its halls carved into the cliffs above the frozen sea. Here, the dwarves live in deep tunnels that wind beneath the earth, their forges burning hot to smelt the Frostgold that is shipped to the rest of the kingdom. Dhagkuldir, another key settlement, sits at the edge of an ancient ice cave system, where legend speaks of a long-lost Yergralffe vault, buried beneath the glaciers.   Despite its remoteness, Harpa is not without danger. Shard Serpents slither beneath the ice, their bodies adapted to the crushing cold, striking at fishing vessels that dare to venture too far. Polar Bears roam the coasts, their massive forms blending into the snow as they stalk prey. Further inland, the Tundra Poppy, one of the few plants that thrive in this frozen wasteland, is harvested for its medicinal properties, its petals carrying a faint glow that guides lost travelers through the endless storm.   Life in Harpa is unforgiving, but its people are as relentless as the land itself. The dwarves of this province are the Hardwinter Clans, warriors and fishers who believe that hardship is a blessing, that only through suffering can strength be found. Their loyalty to Orich Frigidbeard is unwavering, for he, too, is a man of the ice, a ruler forged in the bitterest cold.   In Harpa, the wind howls, the ice never melts, and the past refuses to be buried.
