Geography

A river that starts cold in the Hananhallpa then cool through the Bastards. Then rushes steaming at the foot of the Fire Mountain over several hot springs.
It flows hot and fast and starts at the mouth of the snake mother who births hot and cold under her jaws.
Xiuhtotontli Fire Sage
The river flows 25 feet wide along most of its path and hot for 4 leagues. There are several hot pools larger than the foundations of royal palaces and the occassional waterfalls 20 to 40 feet tall. And all with near boiling temperatuers.

Localized Phenomena

White Out

A special type of fog that occurs when cold torrential rain falls over a particularly boiling section of the river and that severely obscures visibility. Paradoxically, parts of the river becomes swimmable after a nice cold rain.

Natural Resources

Sanitized Water: The cleanest and most pleasant-tasting water used in everyday life for drinking, cooking, cleaning and making medicine.

History

Wars of Fire

For many years of Tawantinsuyu's attempts of Dusky conquest the steaming river and fire mountain have been significant obstacles to funnel Innoit invaders into narrower and narrower paths.
The sounds of ocean waves surge louder and louder as we came closer. I saw smoke coming over the trees and then I saw the front column. They had just gone around the bend and into the white vapour and the lot of them walked off the side.   It was boiling so hard we couldn't hear the slashes. And it was so hot that they died too quickly to scream. Their meat was cooked on the bone and the eyes melted into milk. We were forced to leave them to marinate in the rush of the river.   Not because it was too hot, which it certainly was, but because the river was carrying them away.
