Players: Current Adventuring Party, Arminius, Linda, Morag, Patch Radam
    *August 30, 2317*
    (Adventure Day 128)
The group piled into Wyatt's vintage Leuteschlitten Adventure Van. From the inside, they could see that the vehicle had been reinforced with armour plating. As they drove down to Lake City, the party asked Wyatt questions about The Capitol. Wyatt spoke bluntly, describing a fascist society where people were closely monitored and controlled. Wrong-doers were executed or put into "rehabilitation." Families were punished for their relative's crimes. Most of society was regimented and systematic.
The party asked Wyatt to stop at a local landmark, a decorative lighthouse meant to improve the waterfront for tourism before the Great War. Linda asked to see inside, and Wyatt led them in. Noticing that someone was inside the lighthouse, Wyatt drew her pistol and went up the stairs. She soon called back that it was only a crazy homeless person. And remembering that Linda had said that she had to stop bad people, Wyatt asked if it was okay for to shoot the homeless person. The party were somewhat shocked by the bluntness, and insisted the disturbed trespasser be spared.
On the stairs they found a disheveled woman staring at her own shadow and mumbling. It took some cajoling, but Arminius pulled her out of the spell. She revealed herself as Aliona, a farmer from Louisville who served The Puppetmaster. Initially, The Puppetmaster had called on her to do good works, but something had gone wrong. Now she was plagued with confusion and headaches. She had seen the lighthouse and hoped the electromagnetism would clear her head, but the lighthouse lamp was 200 years out of service.
The party noted that the Lake City marina was brimming with sailboats. There were hundreds, enough to ferry an army of thousands into Dixie. But such an invasion would be doomed because the boats would be sitting ducks for the New California Republic peacekeepers up on Kentucky Dam. Dr. Patch asked Wyatt about the boats and received vague, slightly hostile answers. A strange chemistry started to brew between them. Patch began to call Wyatt "darling," which seemed to amuse her.
At that point, Wyatt mentioned that Morag was carrying an interesting rifle and asked if the weapon had a name. Morag shook her head and held Beau close. Wyatt said that a weapon of that quality deserved a name, a strong name with hard consonant sounds. "Kez, perhaps?" she asked. And then repeated, "Kez, Kez, Kez." And as she said it, she looked at Morag's eyes, not Beau.
As it was nearby, the party allowed Wyatt to start her errand at the local Commerce Station. In the Capitol, Great Leader had ruled that all trade between citizens be done in public within specially marked zones. Arminius noted that agorae in Caesar's Legion cities were similar, but trade rules were nowhere near as strict. He showed Wyatt his Legion officer's tattoo. She responded favorably, claiming that Great Leader had a deep respect for Caesar's Legion, but preferred Caesar Aurelian to the new Caesar Altus.
A disheveled man approached the group drinking from a whiskey bottle and offering his sexual services for money. Wyatt sent the man away by threatening to tell the Correctors about his family secrets. She then brought them to a weapon merchant who showed them an NCR Service Rifle. This firearm was made in California, an entirely post-war construction. The craftsmanship wasn't up to pre-war levels, but given these rifles weren't 250 years old, they were as good as anything in the wasteland. And thanks to the Inquisitors, every marketplace in The Capitol now had these firearms.
Arminius asked if they had any energy weapons, and they did not. Morag asked if they had a .50 caliber receiver, and the merchant hadn't even heard of one. Wyatt tried to impress upon them the new powers of The Capitol, but the group were unimpressed with the primitive tech. Wyatt asked to buy an NCR Destiny Rifle, the newest design by California engineers, said to match pre-war quality. The merchant apologized and said Mr. Albertine bought the only one.
Wyatt asked the party if they could visit Mr. Albertine and they agreed. The rich old man lived in Housing Station Class 1, a row of beautiful mansions on a well-tended street. They found him strolling just outside his home. Wyatt was insulting and confrontational, demanding that Albertine hand over his Destiny Rifle. The old man was afraid, but obstinate. He had called in many favours and spent a fortune on the gun. He warned that he had a dozen mercenaries waiting at his house. Wyatt warned they would never get to him in time.
And indeed, they did not. Wyatt became impatient. She drew her 10mm pistol and put an automatic burst of 6 shots into Albertine. His mercs heard the gunfire and came running, crossbows at the ready. The party rushed to meet the guards in battle. Wyatt watched carefully as Linda fired Harmony, the strange energy weapon Gritch had made for her. Arminius used his Dimachaerus abilities to gun down opponents with two energy pistols, a situation also observed by Wyatt. Patch was ready with a homemade Flashboom, looking to stun the opponents, but found more use in healing the others. Morag once again pushed herself to attack with superhuman speed, right in plain sight of Wyatt.
The mercs were defeated with no significant injuries to the party. Wyatt thanked them for their help, noting that they shouldn't feel bad for Albertine. He had been skimming money from the Kentucky Dam project and deserved to be punished. In fact, she had manipulated the situation with the Destiny Rifle just to add some drama to what amounted to a simple execution. Patch and Wyatt continued to flirt. And now Arminius expressed a certain admiration for her, as she reminded him of the schemers back home.
After a brief stop to refuel the van at the Lake City Travel Station, they drove through the rest of the town. Housing Station Classes 2 and 3 were far less nice than Class 1. Class 3 was barely more than old pre-war port-a-pottys hollowed out as shelters. Wyatt explained that homes were never bought or sold, they were assigned by The Pentagon. A family who did well for Great Leader would be given better accommodations. If someone broke the law, they would likely be executed or sent for rehabilitation while their family would be moved to a home in a lower Housing Class.
The group asked to see the local Education Center, wondering what children were being taught about Great Leader. Instead, they found a brutal prison. Accused criminals and orphans were being kept in small concrete shelters. If they behaved to their jailers' satisfaction, they could re-enter society. If not, they would be sent away for rehabilitation.
Their second last stop was Fort George S. James, a Capitol army base. There they spoke to a Capitol Corrector. Lex saw the T-60 power armor in bright blue and warned the others. These were the brutal secret police who had killed her companion while she was traveling to Kentucky Dam. The Corrector was a true believer in the glory and genius of Great Leader. Wyatt took pleasure in mocking and antagonizing the party to do the same. Morag asked if anyone at the base had a .50cal receiver, and the Corrector hadn't even heard of one. The party laughed at the armoured agent, and he claimed that his Capitol Cudgel was every bit as effective as any firearm. The group left laughing.   The sun was going down as they arrived at Devotion Bunker, an old fireworks depot turned into a small fort. Outside a group of Capitol army officers were drinking beer in celebration of the completion of the dam. They toasted to the party, noting that the Midwest Brotherhood of Steel and The Capitol should be friends.
Wyatt explained that she wouldn't be joining them for dinner. The group expressed disappointment, especially Patch who continued to trade odd flirtatious comments. Wyatt, returning the strange energy, said that she was still their ride, so Patch had better not drink too much.
As a fireworks depot, the bunker had an open courtyard in the middle originally for making and testing pyrotechnics. Colonel Braxton had converted it into a pleasant yard, with carefully planted trees and grass. The area had been decorated especially for the night's celebration. A long picnic table was set up in a traditional Southern cook-out style.
Colonel Braxton himself was there, dressed in his formal uniform. He greeted the party warmly, an inviting smile stretched across his face...
