Background

Though few know it, Arminius grew up as a primitive tribal in the village of Pinkman in New Mexico within the borders of Caesar's Legion. In one of their endless expansionist campaigns, Legion soldiers obliterated the town, murdering all of the adults and taking only a handful of the children as slaves. The boy who would be Arminius was taken to Flagstaff for sale. There he was spotted by Gaius Fringus, a Legion Legate (general) and head of the Impavidae, an elite military unit specializing in energy weapons. Fringus saw something in the boy's intellect and tactical mind.
This boy was given the best trainers and military tutors, and when he earned his membership in the Impavidae he was honoured with a Legion name, Scipio Americanus. As Americanus, he flourished within the Legion, gaining a reputation as an intelligent and charismatic leader. This earned him special favour among Fringus's military officers. And this status was noticed by Obscisus Ursus, a fellow officer within the Impavidae unit. Ursus grew jealous of Americanus, a rivalry that Fringus encouraged.
By 2317, both Americanus and Ursus had attained the rank of Dux (captain) within the Legion. Fringus was an honoured associate of Caesar Aurelian Resitutor himself. But that spring, Caesar Aurelian abruptly retired, leaving the nation in a dangerous interregnum. Fringus was worried for his own safety and for the safety of his officers, as rival factions would stop at no cost to gain leadership. The Impavidae drew together for safety, waiting out the crisis. While hiding with his unit, Americanus fell mysteriously ill and passed into unconsciousness - poisoned.
When he awoke, he was already traveling in a caravan, hundreds of miles from Flagstaff. Tameka, a smuggler specializing in liberating Legion slaves had been paid to take him out of Caesar's Lands. By then, Americanus was so weak and sickly that he went along with the plan, taking the alias Arminius. It was only on the road that he learned that the senate had elected a new Princeps, Caesar Altus. Along the road, he made an uneasy friendship with Lex Garridan and Linda, agreeing to help them on their trip to the Kentucky Dam.

The Game

Story Arc 8 (Enduring)
Arminius had an uneasy relationship with Lex and Linda at first. His mysterious ties to the Legion were a constant source of suspicion. In order to pass by some Legion troops, he made use of his Legion officer's tattoo, which was noticed by Lex. After that, Lex and Linda took to calling him "offy" instead of Arminius. But after proving useful a number of times, he was accepted into the group.
In NOLA, the group was attacked by a group of Sicarii assassins. These assailants were defeated, and their remains revealed a disturbing note. Arminius's presence in NOLA had been noticed by the Legion. And his old rival, Obscisus Ursus, was offering a reward for killing Scipio Americanus. This death order came with an accusation that Americanus had murdered their mentor Gaius Fringus before he left Flagstaff. There were strong implications that Obscisus Urus was the one who poisoned Americanus. And on top of that, it appeared Ursus had murdered Fringus. But thousands of miles away from Flagstaff, weakened and without allies in the Legion, there was little that he could do.
Traveling north to Jax, Arminius happened upon a former Legion torturer named Decimus Carnifex, who was fleeing the interregnum back in Flagstaff. Decimus had taken the alias "Tom" and had stolen Legion gold in order to start a new life in The Rails within The Rustlands.
In Memphis, the party were attacked by three strange Synths. These expressionless robots overwhelmed the party, reducing Linda to unconsciousness and injuring both Lex and Arminius. Lex called for surrender, which Arminius hesitantly agreed to. One of the Synths took hold of Lex and flew off with her on a jet pack. Arminius and Linda were left alone in defeat.
    Story Arc 9 (Kentucky Dam)
Morag the tracker and guide found Arminius and Linda lying in the street after their encounter with the Synths. She took pity on the two, agreeing to lead them to the Kentucky Dam for a share of whatever salvage they acquired on the way. Arminius was upset by the defeat and loss of Lex, but he continued on. Further adventures in Memphis implied suspicious scheming at the Kentucky Dam on many sides, Dixie, The New California Republic and The Enclave.
    Story Arc 10 (Betrayal)
They successfully made it to Kentucky Dam and found Lex alive. Though with everything they were hearing about The Puppetmaster, Arminius was cautious to accept this woman back. It could be that Lex had been injured in a difficult journey, but for all he knew, this was actually a Synth replacement made by The Puppetmaster. But the others seemed to be calm around her. Arminius decided to proceed with his usual suspicion.
Travelling into The Capitol with an agent named Wyatt, Arminius was surprised by the level of control and manipulation by its government. He found the Wyatt woman crafty and exciting, and noticed that she seemed frustrated with her own government. Arminius began to formulate plans to reinvent The Capitol, after tearing it apart from within.
      Story Arc 11 (War!)
At a formal dinner, Colonel Braxton nakedly announced that The Capitol and NCR had betrayed Dixie. He thought it was a favour to say that as envoys of the Midwest, they were safe and would be returned in exchange for the Midwest Brotherhood agreeing not to enter the conflict. The party did not take it well. They shot their way out of the dinner. Arminius, spoiling for war, suggested that they look for Wyatt (whom they now knew to be The Capitol's Great Leader.) It seemed that Wyatt did not approve of her government's actions in Dixie, and perhaps she could be persuaded to take significant action. But Wyatt was long gone (She was out recruiting his nemesis Obscisus Ursus into TASK FORCE BLUE.) Arminius's second option was to head back to the Kentucky Dam, to punish the betrayers and perhaps link up with the Midwest team there. But the dam would be covered in NCR elites, a fight that most of the party thought they would not survive.
Outvoted, Arminius stayed with the group heading northward through The Capitol.
