Religion of GlitterGoth

What is GlitterGoth?

Religion of our world revolves around worshiping the two creators of our world: Glitter God and Satan. The religion itself is called GlitterGoth, referring to the glittery and flamboyant nature of Glitter God, and Satan’s fake edgy persona - as much as he’s acting as if he’s literally a satan, he’s really just moderately mischievous and the act is only to scare the foolish mortals.

Religion is a very important part of any mole’s life, because both gods are very heavily involved in everything that takes place in the world. It’s important to keep a good relationship with them if you want the things in your life to go your way, and you have to know which god will help you with what stuff in your life. Depending on who you are and how you live your life, you may lean more to worshiping Glitter God, Satan, or both equally, but you are well advised to pay at least some attention to both of them. As the religion of GlitterGoth teaches us, life and world are a balance of good and bad - what might be good for you, might at the same time cause harm for someone else. It’s a fine line we all have to tread carefully every day of our lives.

Gods

Luckily, there are only two gods, so things don’t have a chance to get too complicated, but there’s some things you have to know and keep in mind about each of them.

Glitter God

Glitter God is the main creator of the world. He’s the god of glitter, creativity, life and creation. He’s the main got on charge of Ä+*4~ and the main god worshiped here. He is worshiped in Temples of the Holy Glitter, run by fairies that he created himself specifically to fill this role. He’s a bit extra and excessively flamboyant, but also often has to be the one that’s more serious and responsible.

He rewards all the good deeds and genuine honest efforts of people to be the best versions of themselves. He values creativity, selflessness, hard work and honesty. His favorite offerings to get are any handmade items, the money earned with one’s own hard work and any other offerings given out from the genuine selflessness and thankfulness to Glitter God himself. He is sure to help everyone asking his help with their hardships and projects, as long as they have genuine intentions to do their best and put in their honest hard work. He’s especially a good help with people’s creative endeavors, and giving out extravagant gifts.

In general, Glitter God tends to be very fair and straightforward - do good deeds and present offerings, and good things will happen; do bad deeds and neglect offerings and you’ll suffer consequences.

Glitter God teaches us that only through giving, and spreading our joy to others can we truly be happy, and get more happiness in return. You are the creator of your own happiness, and happiness for others.

Satan

Satan is only the secondary creator of the world. He’s in charge of the harsh lands of T@Ö#Ä3, but is more prone to mischief and creating things that will bring chaos into the world. He is worshiped in Temples of the Holy Satan that are run by his satanic priests, who are usually regular people or rarely moth fairies.

He’s the more fun loving god, not as worried about the consequences of anyone’s actions as long as they’re entertaining to him. He does try to follow Glitter God’s moral code, but is more forgiving if you give him a worthy offering.

Unlike Glitter God, Satan doesn’t only reward good deeds and punish the bad ones, but rewards any deeds that are entertaining to him, or sometimes only takes someone’s side to oppose Glitter God. Though he supports more nefarious acts, he values creativity and effort put into them, as well as the amount of offerings received from the person doing these things. If you’re planning some sketchy or even light hearted prank, you are well advised to pray and offer to Satan, rather than Glitter God.

Satan gladly accepts all kinds of offerings, but be aware that if you offer him something that you’ve obtained to nefarious means, Satan might get back at you for it in some way.

Unlike Glitter God, Satan teaches us that the more you suffer, the greater payoff in happiness there will be at the end. Everything good in your life comes with a heavy price to pay.

Offerings

As you may have noticed, a lot of religion is centered around offerings and the exchange of goods and favors between people and gods. Because of this, offerings are in general a big part of people's lives and different kinds of offerings are known in our world.

Everyday Offerings

These are the simplest and most common offerings. Did you win a contest you were really excited about? Give an offering! Are you going out on a date and you’re really nervous and hope it goes well? Give an offering! Did you just have a really good day today? Give an offering!

These offerings can be given any time for any reason - as a thanks, to ask for good luck, or just like that, because you felt like it, or had some extra thing you thought would make a good offering.

Harvest Day Offerings

This is a very specific kind of offering, given in the time of every monthly Harvest Day. At this time, the farmers will set aside approximately 10% of their monthly harvest to give to gods, as a thanks for a good harvest and to ensure the next harvest is just as good.

Lanternfest Offerings

These offerings are similar to Harvest Day Offerings. They occur in the time of Lanternfest, where people get their monthly payments. This is the best time to set aside a part of this to offer to gods as a thanks and for good fortune in the next month.

Specific Offerings

While you can offer anything at any time, there are specific items, usually related to specific days and celebrations that are given to gods for specific purposes. One of such examples are young couples giving eggs to Glitter God on Egg Day, to ensure they’ll soon have a little egg of their very own :3 Surely there are other examples like this, but this will be added later.

What happens with offerings?

Of course, with all the offerings given to the gods, gods are bound to give something back to people as well. The thing is, as much as they appreciate and cherish all the things they get offered and appreciate the meaning behind it, they don’t really need that for themselves - they are after all gods and can create whatever they want whenever they want. The true value of these offerings is giving them back to people. Everything you give to gods, may be exactly what someone else wishes for, and as you give the item to gods, they may be able to give it to the person who wants and needs it themself.

Harvest day offerings are especially important, because moles get a part of their monthly pay given out in food, and the farmers who donate food get repaid in other items they may want and need.

So truly, with giving offerings to gods you don’t just express your devotion to them, but you actively participate in making the world a better place for everyone.

Temple Worship

Of course, it’s not all only about giving to gods and other people, one must think of themselves as well. And what better way there is to take care of your well being than to visit your local temple for prayer and meditation. Here, people like to talk to gods about their daily lives, things that made them happy, or things that made them sad. If you’re facing a problem you don’t know how to deal with, take time to meditate in peace, and surely you will get divine inspiration about how to solve your problem. If you’d like, the temple’s fairies or priests are always available to you to listen and give advice.

Daily guided meditations and prayers are organized in all temples, but the people are welcome to stop by any time they like for any reason they want to.

Morals

I don’t need to repeat once more that the religion and general moral code is very strongly rooted in the “you get what you give” principle - and this rule is oftentimes played out very literally. By doing good and offering to gods, you will surely have good things happen to you, but if you forget about gods and harm others, you will surely be punished.

As simple and straightforward as this seems, it does get more complicated than that. No matter what you do, you have to be very careful how you go about it and what god to give your offerings too. By being more devoted to Satan you can get away with a lot more sketchy things than if you put all your faith in Glitter God.

But gods themselves may also act on their whims or disregard any of your pleas, just because they feel like it. They are after all the gods of this world, and they make all the rules. Not to mention the fact that, while people do have their own free will, the gods interfere and try to influence their actions all the time. In that case they really can’t punish you for something they told you to do themselves.

Your safest bet is always doing what’s truly the best and right thing to do, and not trying to take advantage of gods, or offering to them just to help you get away with something.
