Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Physical Appearance

Oswald is a plain looking Caucasian man. He is an older man in his mid 30's and is average height and build, lacking much in the way of muscle definition and a slightly flabby physique. He has blue green, down turned eyes that turn a hazel color in his wolf form. He has short sandy blonde hair that is on the shaggier side, but is usually kept nicely combed. He has a bite scar on his shoulder and some scratches on his chest as well as his lip.   In werewolf form he reminds blonde, but fades into a darker brown near his snout, his paws, ears, and at the end of his tail. He is considered a medium sized werewolf. Not a small as Garret Rider, but not as large as Albaster.

Apparel

Oswald tends to dress in business casual attire, at least when working, preferring to were dress shirts and ties, with plain slacks. He does not like showing his arms often, so in his casual home wear, he tends to wear long sleeved shirts and comfortable, soft clothing. He tends to like simple clothes and prefers cool colors like blues and purples.   He wore a pair of glasses for some time, but after his first transformation, his eye sight was healed and he no longer needed them. In order to keep up appearances though, he now wears a pair with fake lenses in them when he's around people who recognize him.

Special abilities

Like Garret and Albaster before him, Oswald inherits a mutation in the werewolf curse that allows him retain memories from his time as a werewolf. He has the potential to control himself slightly in wolf form, but since he is so inexperienced, he has yet to develop this skill.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Oswald had always lived a pretty mundane life. He grew up in an upper middle class family, where his parents expected a lot out of him even at a young age. Through out his school years he a high GPA with a bunch of extra curricular activities that kept him busy a lot. He rarely had any time for himself to relax and do the things he wanted to do. He excelled in math in school, and continued down that bath by majoring in accounting through college.   Oswald found himself a 9-5 office job and an accounting firm where he has worked ever since. A few years ago, he met Ashley, a co-worker from another department and they two hit it off and got married. Shortly afterwards, conceiving their first child together.

One day, Oswald received a new client, a research center by the name of Revival Laboratories, who needed someone to meet with their director in person. Hoping that it would get him his long awaited promotion at work, he accepted the offer and traveled down to Dusk Valley were their new facility was located. But during a late night drive into town, he hits a large creature with his car, who is later revealed to be Garret Rider in werewolf form.   When trying to check the damage, Garret attacked Oswald, biting him in the shoulder. He was only saved by an oncoming car that scared Garret off. The driver helped him get to a hospital to quickly patch him up, but insisted on going to work the next day, as he found his client more important than his health. While at his job, he started to feel sick and fainted while at work, prompting him to return to his apartment confused.   Eventually Garret, now in human form, would find Oswald and try to convince him that he's been turned into a werewolf, but he obviously didn't believe him, and thought he was crazy. Garret tried multiple times but was turned away each time. As Oswald's sickness began to die down, he made plans to head home, prompting Garret to take drastic measures and sabotage his only vehicle to protect his pregnant wife from the inevitable rampage.   Garret kept this up for nearly a month, but he was eventually caught, and Oswald threatened legal action if he didn't leave him alone. While he was trying to get in his car to leave town, Garret tried in vain to get Oswald to listen to him, but at that point, he wasn't having it anymore and chewed Garret out before speeding off into his car into the night.   But before he could even make it out of town, he began to change, forcing him to drive the car into a ditch and crawl out while painfully shifting into a monster. He turned into a werewolf where he lost control and ran into the forest. At night he encounters a wolfified Garret once again, who instead opted to protect him as a large Wolf Albaster chased after the both of them, Garret knocking Oswald into a ravine so he could lead the dangerous wolf away from him.   When he awoke the next morning, he was once again found by Garret, who tried to explain what had happened to Oswald. Now with undeniable proof, Oswald was forced to stop and actually listen.

Employment

Oswald works a regular office job as an accountant/financial advisor, of which he is very dedicated to. He works for a larger firm, but his work is client based, and he frequently has to make trips out of town to meet with some of them in person or to temporarily move offices. He puts a lot of value in being successful in his career, and prioritizes it over other things in his life. His self worth is entirely depended on how well he's doing in life, and he's often to busy for his family or friends, causing them to become distant.

Personality Characteristics

Likes & Dislikes

Oswald enjoys peace and quiet and time to himself. He has a fondness for soap operas and horror/thriller novels. He enjoys rainy days where he can stay inside and listen to the thunder and work. His dislikes loud, energetic activities, excessive noise, and distractions. He's also not a fan of large social gatherings and small talk.

Virtues & Perks

Oswald is a hard worker and a dedicated man. He often puts 110% into his work, be it education or his job, often going above and beyond to excel over his peers. He is a people pleaser and a very docile, agreeable person, rarely turning down a favor asked of him.   He is a very responsible person, down to earth, and logical to a fault, behind very skeptical of supernatural claims. It seems he has a hidden talent for story telling, as he starts writing to pass time during his stay in Dusk Valley.

Vices & Flaws

Oswald tends to immerse himself in his work at the expense of everything else in his life. He lacks any major hobbies, or much of a social life, and has very few friends. He is a bit of a pushover, allowing others to take advantage of him and his need to please others.   He is rather passive when he is wronged, and tends to be pessimistic about life. He is rather neurotic and obsessive about having things structured and ordered, and tends to panic when things aren't.

Conflict & Motivation

Oswald is so used to a mundane, milk toast life that he's completely unprepared for sudden supernatural mayhem that is thrust upon him after turning into a werewolf. He is desperate to return his life to normal, but finds it difficult. He feels a great amount of shame for being a werewolf and panics at the idea of being a failure and losing everything he's worked hard for.   He absolutely loathes being a werewolf, and finds it disgusting and humiliating to turn into an uncontrollable beast. He falls into a depression and refuses to go home and face his family in this state. He begins to go a bit crazy as Dusk Valley proves to be too strange and chaotic for his mild sensibilities.

Social

Mannerisms

He usually has a very stoic, almost bored demeanor to him. He doesn't smile often and tends to take himself too seriously a lot. He always seems to be tired even when well rested. When he's is in an uncomfortable position, he acts very timid and closed off. He tends to fidget with his hand a lot, wringing them, rubbing them together, picking/biting at his nails. When he's very anxious he tends to obsessively pick at hairs and blemishes on his face, or obsessively scratching at his scalp and pilling on his hair.   He tends to speak quietly, with a low energy tone that makes him sound bored or tired, and he'll often mumble things that are hard for others to understand. There is a hint of sadness and stress in the way he talks, but when he's actually stressed he tends to be louder, and talk faster and with less coherency.   In his werewolf form, he is notably more confident and energetic, at least after the first couple months. This could be because he lacks self control and self awareness, so all of fears and inhibitions are gone, and he is actually allowed to be free.

History

Garret was the one who bit and turned Oswald when he got hit by his car. Of course he remember this the next day end felt immensely guilty about it, trying his best to contact Oswald and warn him about his impending fate. Oswald found the claims to be nonsensical fantasy junk and deemed Garret a crazy stalker, at least until it was too late and he turned the next full moon.   Since then Garret has had to act as almost a mentor to Oswald and teach him about how to function as a werewolf, a situation both find awkward as Oswald is nearly twice Garret's age. At first, Oswald is very angry at Garret for putting him in this situation, but he eventually realizes that Garret had no control of the situation either, and the whole mess was just a unfortunate accident. He eventually warms up to Garret as they start to get along more, and he becomes a bit of son figure to him.
