Katharyn "Kate" Snowherald (born 30 Tarsakh 1476 DR) is a human woman, acrobat, monk, and adventurer. Growing up in the city of Fireshear, she lived for long periods of time in a monastery near her home. There, she learned to become an excellent acrobat and martial artist. The day after her 18th birthday, she bid farewell to her family and monastery, and headed south for Waterdeep to become an adventurer. She has since become associated with the Arrowheads adventuring group.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Kate is a small woman, coming in at only five feet tall and weighing less than a hundred pounds. She is fairly athletic, but extremely flexible, and has above-average stamina.

Apparel & Accessories

Having grown up in the cold weather of Fireshear, Kate finds anything warmer than her home to be unbearably hot. In addition, her training as a monk allows her to dodge attacks with ease, so she never finds a need to wear armour. Instead, she wears a simple outfit comprised of a short halter top, shorts, and high boots. In colder weather, she has a warm cloak to wear over her existing clothes.

Kate didn't bring any other sets of clothes to Waterdeep, but after she arrived, she was aided in buying more by Sariel Liadon. Kate now owns a number of fancy dresses and smallclothes for swimming, all of which are fairly revealing.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Kate Snowherald was born on 30 Tarsakh 1476 DR in the city of Fireshear. Her parents, both miners, had little time to take care of her. As such, she was often left in the care of a little-known monastery not far from the city. Kate grew up with her time split between the care of the monastery, other parents in the city, and her own parents. The monastery itself was an offshoot of one from Kara-Tur, but had long since cut ties with its progenitor.

Although the monks of the monastery tried to instill their values into Kate, she was far more interested in the acrobatics and martial arts the monks displayed. From a young age, she became heavily invested in learning acrobatics, rolling, flipping, and tumbling around the monastery whenever she felt like it. The monks disapproved of her ignorance of their traditions, but were at least happy to teach her more physical aspects. Although smaller than most of the monks, she always helped them whenever they needed help moving or carrying items around.

By Kate's 18th birthday, the monks had decided she was experienced enough to set out on her own. She bid farewell to her parents and friends, as she had decided to move south and become an adventurer in the city Waterdeep. The day after her birthday, she set out on her journey to Waterdeep. It was long and treacherous, and Kate faced significant danger along the way. After several months, she arrived at the city.

Although skilled, Kate's complete lack of experience adventuring meant that she found it difficult to take on quests. She rented a small room in the Dock Ward, but struggled to pay for it. She frequently visited a tavern in the Southern Ward - The Bronze Dragon - as she found the staff very friendly. When her money got particularly low in late 1494 DR, she applied for a job there. Instead, the staff recommended her to their employer, Sariel Liadon. Sariel was extremely impressed by Kate's skills, and immediately hired her on as an associate of the Arrowheads.

Social

Social Aptitude

Eager and amicable, Kate is extroverted if a bit inexperienced in conversation with strangers. Regardless, she is always willing to strike up a conversation with anyone she meets, and is more than happy to talk to them about subjects she likes - especially acrobatics. While she is very open with what she says, she knows enough to refrain from being brutally honest. Kate also tends to go along with whatever anyone says, as she eagerly wishes to impress people - even if what they ask of her is somewhat dangerous. Kate has been encouraged by Sariel Liadon to try flirting, but she is yet to master that.

Born in the North. Kate has advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to resist cold temperatures, and disadvantage on ability checks and saving throws made to resist warm temperatures.

Nimble. When Kate succeeds on a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check to Tumble, she gains the benefits of the Disengage action.

Actions

Multiattack. Kate attacks three times using her Unarmed Strike.
Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6+4) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, Kate can choose one of the following additional effects:

  • The target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or drop one item it is holding (Kate's choice).
  • The target must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.
  • The target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of Kate's next turn.

Bonus Actions

Cheerleader. Kate uses the Help action on a creature within 30 feet of her.
