Varin Empire
The Varin Empire is a Theocratic Monarchy with a citizenship of mostly Humans. The Empire rules over the continent of Osirin.
The Varin Empire is best known for outlawing the worship of Gods, with their state religion, the Church of Apostasy, being a pseudo-religious organisation that preaches that there is no need for Gods.
The house of Varin was founded in 1140 AF as a minor house in the old Murtagh Empire, who controlled the south east of Osirin. The Varin house grew in power due to the wealthy mines found under Fort Victoria, eventually leading them to become one of the wealthiest families in the region. They later joined the neighbouring Kingdom of Durn in a revolution against the Murtagh Empire, overthrowing them and helping unite Osirin under the Kingdom of Durn. Years later in 1614 AF the Queen of Durn died with no heir, leaving the House of Varin as next in line, crowning King Lucius Varin the first King of the Varin Empire.
The Varin Empire has a relatively poor relationship with the other nations of the word due to their religious policy. They have an especially fraught relationship with the Kingdom of Lorth’elon, who they were recently at war with, in a conflict known as the Betrayer War.
