Mirrors Session One: Seven Samurai
General Summary
The first session of a brand new campaign.
Our story begins in Triumph, in the summer of 1445. At the Temple of the Blades, seven carriages are permitted in to drop off seven passengers, the seven newest Blades here for training. These are Samuel Farcrow (Anthem of Nine Gods), Mukasa Masengo (Rune), Engelier (Hellbound), The Corpse Blade (Fungus Born of Dead Men/Go'mal), Tarako (Upon A Star), Killdread (Sorrowful Man), and Nea (Winter Storm). As Bushido watched silently, Mockingbird emerged to give the recruits the welcome speech- mostly warning them about how much training was going to suck hardcore. Introductions made, quarters assigned, and the day to themselves, the novices spent the remainder of the day feasting and chilling in the hot springs or pool on the grounds. Samuel failed to impress a servant with his poetry.
Naturally at supremely early hours following an open bar night is when the Blades decided to wake up the novices. Five of them woke to the warnings of their swords, but two (Engelier and Mukasa) failed to wake up in time and were assigned separate training for the day.
The other five were taken into the loving hands of He Who Wed A Witch. After some banter with Samuel, they assigned the gang a physical challenge, sprinting through the city as long as possible. With a couple of restrictions as well- the swords were confiscated and also war dogs were released to chase after them. Nea and Killdread managed to make it furtherest. Then, back at the compound, the Blade Warrior in the Mist made them jump between pillars over a pit while throwing small pointy implements at the gang. Once they had all fallen in (Samuel lasting the longest), Mockingbird borrowed the powers of the Blade Kaiju to flood the pit rapidly. Thinking quickly, Fungus threw his sword attached to a makeshift rope (it couldn't part with the sword since when the two are separated, well, there's a reason it is called The Corpse Blade). They all climbed out and lived, only to immediately be brought to the next portion of training, where they met Enlightened Master, who allowed them respite and instructed them on guided meditation, asking them to focus on the day when all of them met for the first time...
Flashback: The Ambition of Tenge Khan
Somewhere on the endless steppe of ancient Gemai, in the 72nd Year of Swords, five samurai gathered outside the command tent of Tenge Khan of the Undying Horde. These were Anthem of Nine Gods (Kyoufu), Fungus Born of Dead Men (Yanagi), Upon A Star (Yi), Sorrowful Man, and Winter Storm (Tenzin). They were met by Batu (the dragon companion of Tenge), and crawled into the command tent. There, the great Khan outlined his plan to unite the hordes under a single banner and conquer all Fujiyama, that his son Skaldor might rule over the mightiest empire the world had ever known. There would be much dishonor in this mission, in all the missions he had for the party, but he believed it was necessary for the survival of Gemai. Their first priority would be to attack a Phase Clan stronghold in Chuljin, take their uniforms, and disguised as the ninjas lay an attack on some of the Khan's opponents in the holy city of Heaven's Reach. Chuljin was many many miles away in the Sun Empire, however, and the party would need swift and stealthy transport. Dragons await them at the great wall of the Sun, along with two other Blades who will join them in their mission: Rune (Chujiao) and Hellbound (Töregene Khatun).
