Mockingbird
Swordsmistress Hemi Katli Phun
Mockingbird is a member of the Thousand Blades, specifically tasked with checking in on members of the order acting strangely. She is the forty-second master of the sword of the same name. Her work brings her in constant contact with Bushido, and she is rumored to be his replacement should anything happen to the master of the Blades.
Physical Description
Identifying Characteristics
Mockingbird is missing her right eye, but aside from that is a very typical looking Skaldoran of River Kingdoms descent.
Special abilities
The sword Mockingbird gives it's master the ability to mimic the powers of any other Blade for a very short time, and these copied powers are generally less impressive than the true thing. However, this versatility is invaluable and makes Mockingbird an unpredictable opponent.
Apparel & Accessories
Like all Blades, Mockingbird spends most of her time in the uniform of the organization, which is a black silk shirt under a red sash bearing the Imperial dragon seal in gold. She also famously always wears a straw conical hat and mesh sandals- traditional garb of commoners in the River Kingdoms.
Specialized Equipment
The sword Mockingbird is a standard Blades katana. Aside from the regular powers granted all who wield it, the current Mockingbird can transform into both a naginata and a Skaldoran recurve bow. Like all Blades, she also wears ō-yoroi armor enchanted to be resistant to damage and carries a variety of magic potions in an extradimensional bag.
Her eyepatch is enchanted to reveal the presence of magical fields and invisible creatures.

Personal history
Hemi Phun was born into poverty in Port Pelizo, both parents workers in the town's famous manufacturing plant along with most of her extended family. She became an orphan at a young age following a devastating fire that claimed the lives of hundreds of workers, and was forced to fall in with Pelizo's criminal underground in order to survive. At nineteen, she was finally arrested on charges of burglary, but was released by the Blade Custodian, who had been passing through the area and realized that the sword Mockingbird had chosen it's next master. Still, by the rules of the Blades, criminals must pay some sort of penance, and Mockingbird was made to lose an eye as is the traditional River Kingdoms punishment for thieves.
Education
Mockingbird is required to travel quite frequently for her duties, and over the course of two hundred years has become the foremost authority on geography in the Empire, and is occasionally contracted to draw updated maps of Imperial territory- the last twenty official political maps have been her work. This constant travel and extended life has also given Mockingbird an impressive collection of general trivia. By nature of her ability to copy other Blades, she has made it a point to study each of the swords and their capabilities, and even their history when she has time.
Morality & Philosophy
Mockingbird does not believe that a commitment to either good or evil is beneficial in the long run. She is only interested in completing her assignments to the best of her ability, and believes that any action taken to further those goals is justified, but will generally avoid harming civilians if there is an alternate path to take.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Mockingbird wants to ensure that all one thousand swords and their masters are accounted for at all times, and makes no secret of her desire to please Bushido in all things.
Personality Quirks
Two hundred years of keeping meticulous track of the members of the Blades and their behavior has left Mockingbird with some bizarre habits of her own. She often mutters to herself when meeting a new Blade, committing everything about them to memory, and sometimes asks bizarre, somewhat personal questions out of nowhere.
Hygiene
Mockingbird is obsessive about keeping her hands, sword, and lute clean. She is frequently seen wiping her hands and equipment with a cloth soaked in concentrated alcohol, and is known to travel with an unusual amount of soap.
Social
Religious Views
While she does not publicly comment on her religious affiliations, Mockingbird has maintained some spiritual practices common to Skaldorans, namely the daily lighting of incense to honor her dead family.
Social Aptitude
Mockingbird is generally regarded as an unpleasant conversationalist to non-Blades, her habit in social interactions is to get to the point immediately, with very little regard for what she considers meaningless conversation.
Hobbies & Pets
Mockingbird plays the tovshuur, a three-string lute had has fallen out of favor over the last few centuries. She constantly practices when alone, and only very rarely performs in the presence of others.
Wealth & Financial state
Mockingbird invests her Blade stipend into River Kingdoms shipping companies, and uses the returns to purchase small properties all over the Empire so she always has a private place to stay. A majority of her fortune goes towards paying trusted servants to maintain the properties.
