Chuljin

Chuljin is the capital of the Sun Empire, built around (and on top of) a massive lake which is said to be the tears of the Weeping Widow. Widow's Lake is massive, and the city is built spiraled out from walls around it. Many platforms and docks support infrastructure, and many homes and even businesses are entirely mobile boats. Chuljin is made almost entirely from wood, and is situated inside of a massive pine forest and this inside of mountains. It is said that the views of the surrounding countryside makes all the chaos and unpleasantness of living in Chuljin more than worth it.

Demographics

A vast majority of Chuljinese are Hagrin elves, followed by a servitor class of humans that are primarily Gemaite. Of course, all the peoples of the Empire are represented in some degree, as well as migrants from the Moon dominions.

Government

As the capital of both the Sun Empire and that power's Phoenix Province, many government officials occupy the city. In true Sun fashion, the city government itself is overly large and broken up into several subdivisions, each with a Prefect that reports to Chuljin's ruler, Lord Yu Altan, perhaps the highest ranking human in the entire Empire. By Yu's decree, the city's Prefects are representative of the demographics of Chuljin and the areas they represent, with similar arrangements made for their underlings. In this way, the most diverse city in Fujiyama maintains a tentative harmony.

Infrastructure

Constantly shifting businesses and homes makes planning a nightmare. Winding docks and wooden passageways cross the inhabited parts of the lake, and the exterior is just as chaotic. All along the massive walls, neighborhoods are built upwards. Almost eight hundred years ago, the Sun government began paying citizens to anchor their boats in permanent locations, the result of which is districts made out of ships nailed together. The only orderly roads are those that go in and out of the city, leading to massive forests from which lumber is hauled in to maintain the wooden city. Great storehouses are spread out in regular intervals, as well as dragon pavilions and humanoid gathering places.
