Mirrors Session Two: Battle in the Clouds
General Summary
The story of the newest members of the Thousand Blades continues in modern-day Triumph, following another long day of physical training which consisted of running all day. In the evening, they were brought again to Enlightened Master to continue training with the mystical nature of the swords. Today, they were instructed in the art of transforming the sword into a different weapon, the first form of which is the "Instinctive Weapon", something close to the soul of the fledgling Blade. Samuel, who's Blade is literally inside of him, struggled, but kept almost getting it, and Enlightened Master believes him to be nearly ready. He taught them a form of meditation to enter the Blade-Trance, a special ritual in which the samurai rhythmically changed the shape of their weapon in order to clear the mind of all else.
Flashback: The Mad Flight
Somewhere on the ancient steppes of Gemai, five samurai arrived on horseback to a place outside of the Sun's gigantic wall, where in the pale moonlight they were met by five more riders, aviators from Lisbeth and their dragons. Captain Martin implored the samurai to care for the dragons, who were very excited to be on a combat mission. The two parties exchanged mounts, and the samurai took off over the wall, confident they had some time to fly as Budan Khan launched a distracting assault on the wall miles and miles away. And so they flew all night, evading a Sun patrol, and landed during the day in a forest clearing. Yanagi convinced the trees to cover them, and so the trees did. Thus it wasn't until the next night that their flight resumed, and it was only then that they were pursued by a Sun dragon and its crew. Realizing the first patrol had seen them, the five samurai and their borrowed dragons decided to fight in order to prevent their location from being given away. The dragon against them was only one, but it was very big compared to the tiny Grey Archers of Lisbeth. But the little dragons fought ferociously, even in the face of a deadly opponent. The samurai fought from dragonback, jumped to board the enemy dragon, and Kyoufu even engaged in a sword duel with a Sun soldier while both dangled from harness straps. The enemy captain managed to knock Li out with his firearm's barrel, but was killed when his dragon was too wounded to continue flying. It crashed to the ground, with Yanagi and Tenzin working together to rescue Li before she crashed to the ground. Successful, they continued on after the fight, landing in a secluded spot in the mountains as the dragons took off.
Back in the present, Enlightened Master treated the novices to a trip to the hot springs and warned them that tomorrow they will go through live combat training in the Imperial Palace.
