Rekindling Fest

The Rekindling Festival is a celebratory event used to commemorate the reopening of the Wayhalls after the Lacuna closed off the Junkberg Bermuda. Feasts, games, and pleasure-seeking are the common elements of the event.

The signature feature of the Festival is the household lighting of the 'Lighthouse Candle', a candle carved in the shape of a Wayhall gate.

Across the entirety of the Junkberg Bermuda, the speaker dinged to mark the start of the 'morning.'

Unlike most days I've witnessed, people awoke not with bags in their eyes, but with bags in their hands. Food, drinks, drugs, games, sex toys, whatever they had that they enjoyed. It was a lively event, some gathered in big groups, others silently slinked into the rooms of others.

I managed to stop one Sheljt who carried a traditional Sheljt jar of wine. "It is Rekindling Day!" He joyously explained, his smile was contagious even as I had to crane my neck to look at him. "The day we celebrate the Wayhall."

And just like that, he was gone, lost in the crowd of revelers.

Togetherness in Solitude

The Rekindling Festival was first concieved when the Wayhalls reopened after the Melancholic Lacuna. A feeling of hope was something long since forgotten by the people of the Bermuda Junkyard, and so when the wayhalls reopened, people partook in all the luxuries that they had been conserving for so long.

It became a tradition to enjoy what you love the most on the day of the Rekindling Fest. There is no shame on the day of the festival, as long as you are having a good time, you are accepted. That is unless you are preventing others from having a good time.

The Wayhall Lanterns

A significant part of the Rekindling festival is the lanterns that are lit throughout the station during the Festival. Metallic structures of varying sizes all carved into the shapes of the Wayhalls are lit with a candle. The Candle signifies the light eminated from an active face of a Wayhall, and some of the more religious folks aboard the Junkberg Bermuda believe that lighting the lanterns will keep the Wayhall open, and help avoid falling to Dead Space.
