Korgin Yamamoto turned to Nikko, "Maybe next time we climb we can share the rope?" He pleaded to Nikko with his eyes, a silent pleas to help him make Fykk feel better.
"Oh, absolutely. Bela isn't used to working with others," Nikko explained, as he drew the head of the rope out from the satchel fastened against his waist. "It tends to coil back up when I'm done climbing. Here, everyone come; handle it for a moment so it knows you're a friend," he walks up and reaches towards Fykk. Nikko makes sure to maintain a little distance to allow Fykk the choice, while being in range for the others to handle the living rope as well.
“Prehensile r-rope isn’t a-a m-mecha.” Fykk mumbled before hesitantly reaching towards the squirming tool.
"No," Korgin started, grasping the rope gently to let the orga get a sense of his hand. It rippled against his palm, lobes squeezing down like the pads of a gecko's foot. "In fact it's Orga."
Hanging back, Zaffir commented "Been a long while since I've seen one of these beauts. One o' them was taught by it's owner to twitch in certain patterns to give simple warnings. Their jerky is less stringy than I expected too. Cause you think rope, stringy seems natural right? Nah, slightly meaty. S'not bad."
Bela shivered in their grasp at the word "jerky".
"Shh, Bela is sensitive about being eaten," Nikko whispered, hunching over the rope to comfort it. "He didn't mean it," Nikko cooed. He straightened up and addressed Zaffir with an even tone, "did you? Bela here is a far better aide in hunting than tasty during dinner. If you wish it's future aid, I recommend you apologize and try to make nice."
He turned back to the other two, "I think it likes you guys." The rope now moving freely between all their hands.
Fykk interjects "Ye-yeah Zaffir. Apo-apologize to th-the rope."
"We'll be fine, won't we Bela?" Zaffir asked going in for a gentle pet of the living rope.
"Besides," he half-muttered "the one I got to try had lived a long, fulfilled life before passing of natural causes. No orga-tech cruelty."
I'm still a little creeped out by the idea, but omg, Zaffir, don't eat the poor thing! :O
