Shacken Lands (Shae ken)
The Shacken Lands are an archipelago of large continental islands that lie in the northwest of Valoreum. With the large amount of vulcanism in the region, the area boasts a warmer climate than would be expected in the region. The islands' biomes consist of massive conifer forests, fern-filled grasslands, and high mountains. The thing that makes this region of Valoreum so interesting are their elemental attunement to shadow magic, causing the lands to be surrounded in a dark mist, obscuring the lands from view. These lands are home to the Shacken, powerful Shadow Dragons able to hide within the long shadows of the region.
Geography
The Shacken Lands consist of three large, main islands, each with their own unique flora and fauna. The first is Ve'ka Olmjar, or the Island of Giants, the second is The Isles of the Forgotten (Olmjarre se Vodahmin), and the last is the Island of the Strange (Val'olmjar).
Localized Phenomena
Due to the elemental shadow magic that permeates the region, the Shacken lands are frequently surrounded by thick and dark mist. Within these lands, shadows seem to grow more dramatically and allow for many predators and prey to lurk within them. When using Shadow magic within this region, it always deals one level of exhaustion to targets, unless they have a strong affinity for it (like the Shacken).
Fauna & Flora
The Shacken Lands possess species from many Gondwanan land masses (South America, Madagascar, India, Australasia, and Antarctica) during the Cretaceous period and many fantastical beasts from those regions, with Each set of Isles representing one of these regions. The Isle of Giants represents South America; the Isles of the Forgotten represent Australasia and Antarctica; and the Isle of the Strange represents Madagascar and India.
