Olmean Isles (Ol may ahn)
The Olmean Isles are an archipelago that lies on the eastern edge of Valoreum, with islands lying between the Drakken Hills and the Chaiyjussian Redwoods. With its location, the Olmean Isles act as barrier islands for the rest of Valoreum, keeping many of the powerful storms of the Dividing Sea from impacting the mainland. However, this does not mean that the islands are short on life. This is in fact the opposite, as the Olmean Isles possesses a plethora of species native only to them, each with distinct morphs depending on how large or small an island of the chain is.
Geography
The Olmean Isles consist of around 40 large islands large enough to support their own ecosystems. Here is a list of names of some of the isles, from largest to smallest:
- Okaazjunro Isle (Ocean King's Isle): The Largest of the Olmean Isles, Okaazjunro boasts the greatest diversity of wildlife as well as ecosystems. Deep within its recesses lies the forgotten mansion of Olmus, and it is said that this is where all Olmeans and their descendants were born from.
- Koormortaad Isle (Isle that shudders in Summer): This Isle, located near the Chaiyjussian Redwoods, is large enough to support a decent-sized assortment of species, but each summer shakes as if wracked by an earthquake. Whatever lies here during summer is worth investigating.
- Zindgolz Refuge (Triumph Rock Refuge): Located near the shore of the Drakken Hills, this island rises above the ways, triumphing over the waves effortlessly. Due to its shape, it creates a natural alcove that Olmeans used as a safe harbor during the dangerous storms that frequent their isles.
- Toorklo Isle (Isle of Glass): An Isle close enough to the Draiconian Waste that volcanic processes have made all of its sand into beads of glass or obsidian, giving the beeches of the isle a prismatic hue.
- Vedviik atoll (atoll of the Black Defeat): An atoll once a landing place to and from Eveynjar, this isle is now stained black with sand made from ash and pumice from when the Eldyritch Titan of Water fought against the Olmeans.
Fauna & Flora
The Flora and Fauna of the Olmean Isles are represented by mythical beasts and prehistoric species from the Jurassic to the Cretaceous of Europe. As such, there are a plethora of island species such as Baryonyx, Megalosaurus, Scipionyx, Compsognathus, Cetiosaurus, Scelidosaurus, Miragaia, Iguanodon, and many more. Mythical species include Aspidochelone, Abaia, Kraken, and the Kuleshdra, a hydra relative with the ability to use water, wind, light, shadow, and shock magic.
