Tar Pits of the Northern Hills
Along the edge of the Rushing River on the side of the Northern Hills is a span of land that is overtaken by boiling tar pits. Since people had begun to settle in the Northern Hills the tar pits have been there. Scholars believe that it is naturally occurring and might possibly be tied to what caused the Desert of Ruins.
Rumors say that there was once a Spirit settlement that lay in the region. When the tar pits appeared it was sucked underneath the black goo. Treasure hunters believe that there can still be riches found for the adventurous.
Inhabitants
Very few mortals live in the Tar pits due to their dangerous nature, but a few reside in the acidic smog. Spirits also wander the lands hunting for prey or treasure.Geography
Being in the Northern Hills, the tar pits are similar to the rest of the land that surrounds them. There are pitfalls and an acidic smell that lingers in the air.

Due to the intense heat that emanates from the pits, the fauna that grows in the Northern Hills has a hard time surviving in it.
