Royal Army of Evangil
The Royal Army, the Queens Finest, men and women under a united banner of ultramarine and crimson and gold.
A respected military force, looked upon with pride in the Kingdom of Evangil the aptly named Royal Army is the distilled product of centuries of differing fighting forces employed by the different reaches of the Kingdom and unlike its predecessors under the direct control of the Capital and the Crown.
Consisting of several branches of differing size and roles the Army makes up the bulk of Elustrias fighting force and consolidates that power under one unified command structure, with the largest exception to the rule being The Royal Navy of Evangil whom have remained independent of the Army since its creation and maintain a staunch rivalry between the two.
Structure
The branches of the Royal Army are numerous and diverse, many still bearing resemblance to the different fighting forces that where merged into the Royal Army under the rule of King Ferodon II Silverhand after the Rule of Many. The King saw potential in the different skills, tactics and specialties that regions had developed and instead of forcing upon them one single way of fighting he forged a structure that would unite and organize forces under the Crowns command with a patriotic pride and sense of duty, while still remaining separate enough to preserve some of what made them such a formidable fighting force.
Notable branches of the Royal Army
The Grand Army
- Wrendengal Division is headquartered outside of Candence at Fort Boyard and as of 1789 under the command of Lord-General Engulf Jungen
- Prengardt Division is headquartered in Castle Engelheart in the Thunderpeak Mountains and is in the year 1789 still under the command of Lord-General Duearmyr Gruffder-Steel..
- Firwint Division is headquartered in Fort Ferodon where the heartlands and the eastmarks meet and is commanded by Lord-General Tilte Runesmith
Royal Guard
Split into 3 Divisions (Wrendengal in the South, Prengardt in the North and Firwint in the East) and multiple regiments, the riflemen, grenadiers and men-at-arms under this branch form the core of Evangils military forces and are by far the most numerous.
Sworn protectors of the crown, highly trained and experienced and with some of the best equipment in the Kingdom, joining the ranks Royal Guard is seen as a tremendous honor. All of its members are knighted and bear the crest of Evangil and the cloak that marks them out as the custodians of the regent, but are otherwise trusted to choose themselves the armor, weaponry and equipment that they may need for any given assignment. All Royal Guard are however expected to polish their armor to a silver shine and look appropriately regal when able to.

Black Cabinet

The intelligence arm of the Royal Army, the operations of the Black Cabinet is shrouded in secrecy. Its operatives travel within other units, pose as bureaucrats or simply blend in with the populace, collecting information as they go and feeding i back to the organization. The Cabinet is at the same time completely independent of and subservient to, the other branches of the Royal Army, having freedoms to operate in a manner they see fit but working espionage and sabotage on the behalf of the Crowns other forces.
Zeughaus
Once the largest arms and armor manufacturer in Evangil, the Royal Armory has since grown into a branch onto its own and reforged into the Zeughaus. Still in charge of weaponry, armor, engineering and artifice their focus now lies in research and innovation, outsourcing much manufacture to the guilds of the kingdom. To protect their installations and assist the other branches with military engineering they have their own fighting force, simply called the Zappers, composed mainly of combat artificers and specially trained warriors often employing experimental weaponry and magic items for field testing.The Head Armorer of Zeughaus´s Candance Division is Master Artificer Mjol Nirsson.
Kreis Magica
The magic support arm of the Royal Army, decedent from an older order of mages from Elustria the Kreis have deep ties with the old capital and honor their ancient traditions. In peacetime they form a warlike mirror to the Aurora Academy, researching new destructive spells and assisting the other branches. During times of conflict the Kreis Magica split their members into cabals and set them to supporting troops wherever they are needed, acting as a part of that unit until dismissed.
