Tia and Allen arrive in the capital and begin living at Minx Manor. Tia meets and gets to know her grandmother as well as begin learning about her family's history, magic and about Accian society.

Tia spends a good amount of time with her grandmother learning about the family she didn't know she had. She learns about the Ten Houses, duchies of which her family is one of, and becomes immersed in this new society. Allen tries and fails to request an extension on Tia's military service but hesitates to inform her of her incoming assessments and recruitment.
