Swifthollow
History
One of the oldest continuious meeting points in Belkar, the small city of Swifthollow has been a gathering point for nomadic steppe tribes for centuries. Over the last 500 years, the nomadic people slowly erected taverns, and other meeting points. After about 250 years a small town of a few hundred homes, a small fort and a market square. Since that time many people have settled to cater to the travelling nomads, and the town has grown to 7500 souls. Though many of its people are still semi-nomadic. Meaning the towns population can fluctuation from 3000 to 10 000 people depending the time of year.
Population
Today the population of the town is still largely semi-nomadic, meaning that the town will fluctuate from 3000 in the summer months, to 10,000 in the colder winter. The population is moslty gnome (65%). Followed by the less nomadic peoples of Haflings 15%, Humans 10%, and other being 10%.
Economy
The vast steppes which is mostly controlled by House Stonefoot trains vast packs of domesticated animals, from cows, ox, pack horses, goats, sheep, antelope. Many of the large warhorses trained for combat in Belkar are also trained on these vast steppes. Everything related to these animals drives the economy around Swifthollow, from meat to gear to services.

The small stone walls of Swifthollow only protect the central keep and the permanent buildings, while the travellering nomads camp outside, setting up brightly coloured tents.
