House Stonefoot

Lore

House Stonefoot, a noble house of moderate influence, is rooted in the nomadic traditions and unyielding spirit of the vast steppes. For most time before 950 CA, the tribe was entily nomadic, however in the last 250 years they have settled in two permanant locations, Hearthhill and Swifthollow . Though the towns are still semi nomadic, there is always enough people resting in the towns to keep them as town. House Stonefoot carries with it the legacy of a people forged by the wind-swept plains and the rhythm of galloping hooves. The house takes its name from the great Oakstone, a weathered monolith perched atop a hill in their ancestral lands, said to have been placed by their founder to mark the unity of scattered clans under one banner.

The strength of House Stonefoot lies in their mastery of horse-riding and mobile warfare. Their warriors, known as the Thistlefoot Riders are feared for their swift hit-and-run tactics, their composite bows capable of raining arrows down upon enemies with deadly precision. Though they lack the wealth and influence of the greater houses, their formidable cavalry ensures they are not overlooked. Their lands, while rugged and less fertile, are rich in grazing fields, and their herds of livestock provide them with both sustenance and trade goods, particularly leather and textiles.

House Stonefoot’s place in the kingdom is one of adaptability and loyalty. They are often called upon as scouts or auxiliary forces in larger conflicts, earning them respect from more powerful houses. However, their standing is also limited by their humble origins and nomadic heritage, which some traditional nobles view as uncultured. Despite these perceptions, House Stonefoot remains steadfast, bound by the strength of family, loyalty, and the enduring spirit of the steppes.
