House Aquilar

House Aquilar owes its history to an invasion from the east. The Battle at the Bridge of Silk in 913 broke the power of House Emberforge, and soon after, the remaining nobles submitted to the new power. In 914, House Aquilar officially claimed the royal title, creating a sultan instead of the high kings of before.

The House of Aquilar is the most powerful house in the Sultante, rivaled only by that of House Ironhelm. The trade networks of Aquilar stretch across the sultanate and bring a flow of wealth previously not seen anywhere. However, just as important as wealth is the transfer of ideas. The sultan pays merchants to document their travels, and then stores those records in the Copernicus Collage and Library, a vast building located in Helenon . These documents have caused House Aquilar to manage the sultante better than any previous house in history, with less war and infighting than before.

However to maintaint his peace, the Sultan, especially the current one, Theodosius II, Sultan of Belkar , has had to exert considrable power over some of lesser houses, causing increasing discontent amoung the powerful houses.
