When House of Aquilar, seized power in 917 CA, they split the dwarven settlements to mitigate their power. House Ironhelm was born in 918 CA. The dwarves of the Western High Peak Mountains continued to grow and expand their holdings, starting settlements in Everdark Mines, Soft March Mines, and Bitterdark Mines over the next 250 years.
Just as thier parent house, they also sent expiditions to the Hill Giant Mountains and Wyvern Mountains , but none of the expiditions managed to last more than a few years or establish a permanant settlement.
Over the last 250 years, Ironhelm has grown in power, making it now rival the power of even the sultan. Ironhelm has been extremely lucky to have a series of extremly talented leaders, who have had an eye for talent, creating a inner circle of clever underlings. These clever miners of Ironhelm have discovered new methods of deep shaft mining.
With these new techniques the viens of ore produced enough wealth that the Nobles decided to create a bank deposit system, to proetect its growing class of extremly wealth merchants. Recently a discovery of blending pitch, a sticky tar like substance that burns for a long time, could make a whole series of new terrifying weapons.
