Hammerfall Mines

History

Founded originally by House Emberforge in 813, Hammerfall Mines soon became a thriving centre of comerce in the Western High Peak Mountains. When House Aquilar Takes The Royal Title In 917 and split the dwarven holds in 918, Hammerfall mines became the capital of the newly formed House Ironhelm, who still controls it today.

In the late 1090, the ore veins in the Western High Peak Mountains were faltering, but new deep shaft mines pioneered by the Sandstone Surveyors allowed deeper rich veins to be tapped, leading to a second industrial boom in city that last to this current day.

Since 918 Hammerfall has changed drastically, growing to the second largest settlement in Balkar, and rivals Helenon for influence and grandeur.

Economy

The mines of Hammerfall are unique that the delve far deeper than any other mines. The largest of the mines extend nearly a mile into the mountains.

These mines pull out mostly common metals and some semi precious gems, but these mines are based in utility, not niche materials. The smelters run day and night to produce steel ingots for smiths around Belkar, and Al Zufra Ironhelm once bragged that half to helms and swords in the kingdom were mins in Hammerfall.

This level of industry has created wealth for many, allowing for invention beyond the mines, such as the Al Shiek Observatory, and Sheiks Bank bring talented scholars from around Belkar wanting to study further.
