Sultanspire
History
Founded in 647 by Agkor Wat, a petty king who made his fortunes selling supplies to nomadic tribes people of the Southern Steppes. The city was the first to be a permanant fixture on the steppes and so it attracted all the other races looking to make a money trading with those on the steppes. For this reason in 913 when House Aquilar, siezed control of Belkar, the decentants of this petty king were executed (allegedly) and given to a cousin of the Sultan. Over the last 250 years, the city has continued to grow, and it is now one of the largest cities on the continent.
In 1101 a mine colapsed, trapping 63 miners below ground. Though the villagers tried to rescue them, the efforts failed. There are still rumours the miners can be heard yelling from the mine, and sightings of ghosts have been reported ever since the colapse.
Population
Since Aquilar took over the city, its grown emensly, and now is home to 41,000 people. 25% of these are human, 20% Elf, 20% dwarf, 15% gnome, 10% Halfing, 5% Hobgoblin, 5% others.
Economy
This city is built on being a trade centre of the steppes and the mountins to the south. This means dozens of supply depots catering to different industries. The mines to the south of town are the largest non dwarven mines, producing iron, copper, and a series of other lesser metals.
