Choose Spells and Equipment

Equipment

Both your class and background will provide you your original equipment, as well as a total of gold. You can purchase additional starting equipment using this provided gold. You will certainly want anything that your class requires, as perhaps as well some camping equipment. You can see the opening costs and weights for the kind of equipment you can purchase in the page Equipment. You should consider your carrying capacity. There are four stages of carrying capacity. Unencumbered, Encumbered, and Heavily Encumbered, and Maximum.

Unencumbered

If you are Small or Medium sized you can carry up to 5 times your strength score without any consequences. If you are large sized you can carry up to 10 times your strength score, and if you are tiny you can only cary 2.5 times you strength score.

Encumbered

If you are small or medium sized, once you pass 5 times your strength score, your speed drops by 10 feet per turn. If you are large this happens when you pass 10 times your strength score, and when you pass 2.5 times your strength score as a tiny creature.

Heavily Encumbered

If you are small or medium sized, once you pass 10 times your strength score, your speed drops by 10 feet per turn, and you have disadvantage on ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws that use strength, dexterity, or constitution. This happens at 20 times your Strength score if you are large, and 5 times your strength score if you are tiny.

Maximum

If you are small or medium sized, once you hit 15 times your strength score, you can carry no more, and anything greater then this will reduce your speed to 0, and can take no actions. This happens at 30 times your Strength score if you are large, and 7.5 times your strength score if you are tiny.

Classes come with a list of spells that can be selected for your Spells known. These can be found in each Classes Leveling Chart.
