Death

Overview

This entry is about Death as a Primordial, before she and her twin Life, became Gods. Death is the primordial force of death, the dying and the underworld. She is the last of Void's offspring and the twin of Life. She is the mother of Ignara by Fire, Lassara and Chronia by Life, Valerion by Order and Zilveric by Light.

Description

Death is not known to have a physical form as a Primordial. When depicted in art or stories, she is depicted as a fog or dark clouds. As a primordial some mythologies give her a neutral pronoun and identity, but as a God she is always female, which retroactively also gets applied to Death as a Primordial.

History

Death is the final offspring of Void, twin of Life. Before their birth there was no true, thinking life or passing of life in death. In some mythologies she and Life were enemies from the moment they existed, in others they are shown to be closer than any other living thing as their entire purpose, their entire force, is dependent upon the other one. They always share a close connection, even if its nature differs from mythology to mythology.

Relevance

Like all Primordials, Death is not actively involved in mortal affairs, nor is she revered or prayed to as a Primordial. However as she is one of the two Primordials who became Gods she is revered as the Goddess of Death by all cultures and mythologies. She and Life are the oldest Gods and involve themselves often with mortal beings.
