Chronia

Overview

Chronia, the Goddess of Time, is a Watcher God, a deity who chose not to take part in the creation of mortal races but instead observes and maintains the natural order of existence. Her domain encompasses the passage of time, continuity, and the inevitability of change. She ensures the threads of time remain unbroken and untangled, balancing the moments of beginnings and ends. Revered for her serene yet commanding presence, she is a symbol of patience, wisdom, and grace. She is often invoked in times of uncertainty or when mortals need guidance to see the broader perspective of their lives.

Origin

Chronia is the daughter of the Primordials Death and Life, embodying their paradoxical union. As a deity, she inherited Death’s inevitability and solemnity alongside Life’s nurturing essence and cyclical nature. This duality is reflected in her role as the keeper of time—a force that nourishes growth while marking the end of all things. Despite being one of the most ancient gods, she has no involvement in the creation of mortal races, preferring instead to safeguard the passage of time and continuity across Eldorath.

She shares a unique bond with her sister Lassara, the Goddess of Water and Oceans, as their domains—time and tides—mirror each other in endless cycles. Chronia is married to Zilberic, the God of Knowledge and Curiosity. Their union, a meeting of timeless wisdom and boundless inquiry, bore Faelios, the God of Fate and Destiny.

Personality

Chronia is a patient, composed, and reflective deity who embodies the natural flow of time. She rarely displays anger or frustration, understanding that time will correct all errors and reveal all truths. While she is compassionate, her neutrality often gives her an air of detachment, as she refrains from interfering unnecessarily in mortal or divine affairs.

Her wisdom makes her a trusted mediator among the gods, but she is not without flaws. Her deep sense of responsibility sometimes causes her to overlook the emotions of others, as she views life through the lens of eternity. Chronia values order and continuity above all else, believing that even chaos has a place in the timeline of existence.

Worship

Chronia’s followers are typically scholars, historians, and those seeking clarity in times of confusion. Temples dedicated to her often serve as repositories of knowledge, housing vast libraries and archives. Her priests are known as "Keepers of the Hourglass" and dedicate their lives to studying history, observing patterns in time, and preserving the stories of both mortals and gods.

Chronia is often invoked during pivotal moments in a person’s life—births, deaths, marriages, or great decisions—when mortals seek to align themselves with the greater flow of time. Her symbol, an hourglass filled with golden stardust, represents the fleeting yet eternal nature of existence.

Appearance

Chronia radiates an ethereal elegance, her brown skin glowing as if kissed by the light of an eternal sunset. Her voluminous white curls cascade in soft waves, evoking the timeless beauty of snow-capped peaks. Her warm, golden-brown eyes hold the wisdom of countless centuries and seem to shimmer with a thousand unseen stars.

She wears flowing robes of yellow and gold, intricately adorned with patterns representing time—spirals, sunrises, and clockwork designs. Her hourglass pendant, filled with ever-shifting stardust, rests at her chest, pulsing faintly with the rhythm of time. Every movement she makes is deliberate, carrying the weight and grace of someone who exists beyond the confines of mortality.
