Valerion

Overview

Valerion, the God of War and Valor, is both a creator and a protector, portaying the noblest aspects of battle and courage. Known as the Lionhearted and the Shield of the Just, Valerion is revered for his sense of honour and his role in championing humanity, a race he created with his wife, Amoria, the Goddess of Love and Beauty. His divine mission is not conquest but the pursuit of valor—the courage to stand firm against injustice and the wisdom to fight for noble causes. Despite his association with war, Valerion’s domain focuses on the discipline, honor, and bravery required to face conflict with dignity and purpose.

Names

Valerion is his name in 'common' and the way the human race refers to him.

Týrik is his name among Dwarves.

Origin

Valerion is the son of Order and Death (Nyxaria).

Valerion and Amoria, unique among the gods, conceived humanity through sexual reproduction, reflecting their belief in the union of strength and compassion. Humanity, a race of passionate, flawed, yet indomitable beings, stands as proof to their love and cooperation.

In a tale steeped in intrigue, Valerion fathered a second son, Phyrnos, with Mystraen, the Goddess of Secrets and Whispers. This union was not one of passion but manipulation. Mystraen, drawn to Valerion's unshakable integrity, sought to test his strength against fear itself. She cloaked herself in shadows and whispered doubts into his dreams, enticing him into a divine trance where their union resulted in Phyrnos. The child, born of bravery and fear, represents the duality of courage—the need to overcome fear to find bravery. While Mystraen intended to destabilize Valerion’s unassailable will, the birth of Phyrnos strengthened it, teaching him that even fear has a purpose in shaping valor.

Personality

Valerion is a steadfast and noble god, revered for his wisdom, patience, and sense of justice. He embodies the ideal warrior: disciplined, honourable, and guided by a moral compass. He believes valor lies not in the strength of arms but in the courage to act in the face of adversity. His leadership inspires others, and he values camaraderie, loyalty, and perseverance above all else. However, his high standards can sometimes make him seem distant or unyielding. Though slow to anger, his wrath is righteous and devastating when unleashed, reserved only for those who harm the innocent or dishonour the principles he upholds.

Worship

Valerion is worshiped by all humans, but also by warriors, strategists, leaders, and those who seek courage in times of strife. His temples often double as training grounds, where combat techniques are taught alongside lessons in ethics and honour. Pilgrims leave offerings such as swords, shields, or laurel wreaths, symbolizing their commitment to just causes. His priests, known as the Keepers of Valor, guide worshipers to channel their strength with purpose and integrity.

Appearance

Valerion is depicted as a tall, strong figure with a broad, battle-scarred frame. His dark hair is tied back, and his golden eyes burn with determination and wisdom. He is often shown wearing gilded armor adorned with intricate patterns of lions and laurel leaves, signifying his leadership and valor. A radiant golden cloak, symbolizing his divine light, flows behind him. In battle, he wields Aegion, a longsword said to shine with the courage of all who have fought honourably under his name, and a shield etched with the deeds of his greatest mortal champions.
