Fort Marstol (MAR-stole)

Fort Marstol originated as a military outpost constructed by the Marstoli Commonwealth for the express purpose of challenging Selenia over control of the Bolan Strait and trade routes of the Azurali Sea. It currently acts as the capitol city for the Marstoli Commonwealth, though it still remains one of the most well-fortified cities on Duneterra. Center of operations for the Marstoli Military under Marvin Stovall, and Fort security and command of military personnel within falls under Ulysses Zeigran.
During the 500 Years War that was the catalyst for both the creation of the Selenavi Republic and the Marstoli Commonwealth, Fort Marstol was built under duress along the banks of the Bolan Strait. Outfitted with as much firepower as it could maintain, the fort managed to complete construction despite regular attacks from Selenavi ships and troops. As armaments were added, Fort Marstol became a formidable threat, bombarding any ships that approached and managing to threaten the outermost naval barriers of Selenia with its most long-range canons.
After the ceasefire agreement between Giovanni Russo and Annalise Feywine, Fort Marstol was heavily de-militarized. Still it maintained as an imposing fort on the edge of the Bolan, and continues to act as a major defensive barrier against coastal raiders to the present day. Currently it acts as the center for the Marstoli Commonwealth, with the Governor and his family taking permanent residence there. While its population is less than half of Selenia, Fort Marstol is still an active and lively city, with the great walls and armaments taking a backseat to a diverse culture and a growing economy from gem mining and salt export.
