Pert Bushes
Nartasic: Pert /phɛːrth/
Pert bushes1 are hardy plants native to the eastern Sjorg Desert in southwestern Dragonía, specifically the rugged but fertile region between the lake Pastrjú to the west and the Múlíat Mountains to the east. They are identified by the slightly purple bark.
When in season, the bush produces small clusters of pale blue pert berries2, which are highly sought after by the Narans, Gobíl inhabitants of the region, both as part of their cuisine and traditional medicine. They are often dried and added into spice mixtures or eaten fresh with Sjerg Antelopes fat, and the juice is sometimes mixed with broth, both as a refreshing drink and a medicine for aching bones. Sheep are often allowed to eat the berries to give the mutton a distinct flavour as well, though this custom has affected the range of the plant in some areas.
