Deirdre Santiago-Skye

Her parents were divorced. The father, a U.N. security consultant, was prolonged assigned to the Indian Ocean Exclusion Zone. The mother, a minor Scots/Irish noble, was active in humanitarian causes. The wing of the family home, Wainwright Downs, was converted to a Unionist women’s hospital during the First Crisis.   Educated Cornell University. B.Sci in Agriculture, M.Sci in Environmental Biology, and Ph.D. in Plant Genetics. Post-graduate work at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Long Island, NY.   Prominent leader of Environmental Defense Movement during its Direct Action phase. Joined Lloyd Harbor Study Group to protest planned Higgs power station in Lloyd Neck, NY. Profiled in Newsday as “The Woman Who Broke the Long Island Lighting Company.” Authored Eden Thesis, postulating that patriarchal societies tend toward competition, inequality, and corruption, whereas matriarchal societies tend toward cooperation and free expression. Dismissed from CSHL after arrest for criminal mischief at Bionex Research Lab, Orient Point, NY.   Accepted offer of supervisory work with U.N. Disaster Relief Fund in Peshawar, Pakistan, during Third Crisis. Worked on adapting food crops for high-radiation, low-nutrient environments. Accused of instigating conflict with local leaders over employment of local women. Resigned post following deadly fire-bombing of affiliated seed bank.   Employed with Gaia's Landing and studied the Amazon Rapid Growth issue before being assigned to help with the Environmental crisis in the Former US states as the UCAA expanded its reach.   Her field work, leadership qualities, and expertise led her to be personally seconded to Gaia Royal when the company moved to Pacifica. Luckily, her future was also slotted in the city, making it a natural fit.   Currently runs the Gaia Landing Green Houses and is studying local crops.
Corazón Santiago-Skye is married to Doctor Deirdre Santiago-Skye. The pair met during the Final Crisis in Florida, when the UCAA established connections with the areas around the Gulf of the Coalition. The two are an odd pair: a pacifist vegetarian and a militia soldier. However, the pair are often in quiet unity regarding self-reliance and environmental synergy.
