Formene was once the seat of an ancient elven empire. successive civil wars in Dorwine's past have humbled the empire and reduced it to little more than a hamlet. Now it has shrunk into an easily defensible valley. A palisade formed from living wood runs across both ends, accessible by a single gate. Behind the palisade, the town rises up either wall of the valley, amidst an abundance of trees and wildflowers.
It is always a mild, pleasant springtime in the valley of Formene.
Formene is technically still an elven empire and
Tharivol Ilphelkiir is its ruler, although this is only viewed as theoretical and historical by all but the most ardent loyalists.
There is some discontent amongst the locals that their lord is doing little to restore Formene to its former glory. But in reality most (including the lord) have little stomach for the inevitable conflict this would entail.
The village sits in a small, steep-sided valley and is walled off at either end by a wall of living wood. Technically all citizens are part of the town guard, although only a couple of dozen are on duty at any time, which is usually sufficient because many are spellcasters.
Most buildings are wooden, elaborately carved in the ancient elven style. Many of the oldest buildings are shaped from still living trees, especially the Woven Knar
Formene sits in a steep sided valley and buildings run up either side of the valley with paths terracing each side.
