Tinker’s tools

A set of tinker’s tools is designed to enable someone to repair many mundane objects. Though she can’t manufacture much with tinker’s tools, she can mend torn clothes, sharpen a worn sword, and patch a tattered suit of chain mail.
Components. Tinker’s tools include a variety of hand tools, thread, needles, a whetstone, scraps of cloth and leather, and a small pot of glue.
History. She can determine the age and origin of objects, even if she has only a few pieces remaining from the original.
Investigation. When she inspects a damaged object, she gains knowledge of how it was damaged and how long ago.
Repair. She can restore 10 hit points to a damaged object for each hour of work. For any object, she needs access to the raw materials required to repair it. For metal objects, she needs access to an open flame hot enough to make the metal pliable.

ActivityDC
Temporarily repair a disabled device 10
Repair an item in half the time 15
Improvise a temporary item using scraps 20

Engineering Kit TL 3

These kits include diagnostic tools, a soldering gun, fine point insulated needle pliers, and wire cutters. It employs a battery for a digital multi-meter measuring ohms, amps, and volts. It also comes equipped with a variety of wires, clips, resistors, banana plugs, and crocodile clips. All diagnostic tools in the kit use non-corrodible wiring and are EMP-shielded by design, as it would be incredibly inconvenient to have to repair the repair kit before repairing another device. More advanced kits are required when dealing with more advanced technology and can affect build times and cost (see Skills. Intelligence Engineering).

Widget Bag

She has a widget bag. It contains random spare parts, useful materials, and salvage worth $200. During a short or long rest, she can scavenge for components. In most areas, she will be able to recover $10 worth during a short rest and $20 worth during a long rest.

Personal history

Back Ground: Intellectual

It’s not a matter of how smart she is but more her choice to never stifle her curiosity about the world. She always asked questions. If parents didn’t satisfy, she pestered teachers, and when they failed, she took matters in her own hands and embraced books. She has never been able to put them down since first going into the library as a child. She knows the books better than she does any person. Regardless of her capacity to solve problems or retain complex theories, she refused to accept an explanation without evidence. Knowledge is power and that power is based upon science which demands that there be good evidence. Nothing can ever be safely assumed about anything. This often acts in opposition to her upbringing within the Church of Hope, but she cannot abide by the manner in which they embrace ignorance and blind faith.

Origin

Both her parents are dead. They both died of old age in their 80s. She feels that is the most that anyone can hope for. Like most people born in these times, she is an only child.

Life Events

1. Friendship

She has become good friends with Winfrith Kennard who shares her love for the books and science.

2. Enemy

Levi Aislin Power is a selfish man that is harming others in order to gain power. While he rarely does anything that crosses the line into the illegal, she feels that he has always been the kind of man that society would be better off without.

3. Tragedy

Speaking out against Levi Aislin Power has caused her some trouble. While Levi hasn't taken any direct action against her, those who are aligned with him have made her life more difficult. They do what they can to get in her way and sometimes she wonders if they will one day kill her outright.

4. Windfall

She has an informant with in Levi Aislin Power's ranks. They are a hacker that works within Levi's organization. He has a Computer Use skill of +8 and can be called upon once a week. The check for this information is rolled with advantage. The informant will never put himself at risk and doesn't have access to anything incredibly secret, but he knows general information about the organization.

5. Enemy

She has become enemies with Lisha Eryka Keys because she has been vocal against the Church of Hope. Everything about the Church is counter to what Camp Hope was founded upon. This is supposed to be a place where they seek the truth and gather real knowledge to allow them to unlock the ability to control their destiny. The Church would have them all spend their days hoping that things worked out while having faith that some divine whim will carry them to success.

6. Windfall

Positive Side Effect. Well, that was unexpected. She has been subjected to a medical experiment, a yet untested treatment to a condition she suffered from. Science needs volunteers and she isn't above helping them discover how this world really works. For her, it has been nothing but boon. Roll on the Genetic Benefit Table.

Motivations

Her primary motivation is to pursue The Cure. She is not a doctor and knows that she is not going to be the person to actually discover the Cure. What she hopes for is to provide the doctors with the tools and machines that they need in order to perform their research. No one would have discovered microbes without a microscope. Brilliant doctors need brillant engineers to beuild them suprior tools and excellent resources to learn from. Thus, she does her best to keep the library in the best possible working order and when she has time she engages in research of her own to rediscover the lost machines.

Mental Traits

  • Great ideas are fine, but great results are what counts.
  • She has read every book within the New Medical Library... or at least, she boasts that she has...
  • Science. A rigorous application of logical principles and protocols will lead us toward progress more surely than any belief system. (Lawful)
  • Knowledge. The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge. (Neutral)
  • She has dedicated her life to finding a solution to a scientific problem. (The Cure)
  • She works to preserve the Library.
  • She tends to ignore sleep for days when she is conducting research, often at the expense of her own health and safety.
  • Unlocking an ancient mystery is worth the price of a civilization.
