Forest of Jarisi

Near the magickal Spire of Eahagan is an ancient, huge, and archaic forest of endless shadows. Its canopy is claimed by hawthorn, beech, hickery, pine, and hackberry trees, which give just enough light to bounce between the leaves and allow for a mishmash of shrubs to claim the damp and fertile bottom layer below. The thick branches of the trees intertwine, and a medley of flowers cling to any space they can find, adorn the otherwise dark scenery. Animals that live in the forest tend to be found near the center, where magick is at its peak and the trees that give off a plume of magickal energy befitting the best staves.

Myth

For many centuries there has been a tale of mystery and magick centered around the forest. Nobody knows when the myth exactly popped up, but speculation places it around 1200 AD. The myth is a cautionary tale of heartbreak, magick, drama, revelation, and death. As the tale goes, it is said that a pale being with eyes the color of scarlet blood was the last user of the Staff of Oblivion. This person worked tirelessly with their magick to free Lucifer from his imprisonment. Once the user returned the Staff of Oblivion to the forest of Jarisi, a new prophecy emerged from the magick surrounding the staff:
As soon as the staff is held,
And matter does not crumble,
Raimondas shall plunge from up high,
And spirits be free forevermore.
Ever since this prophecy was uttered, each guardian of the forest of Jarisi waits patiently for the new owner of the Staff of Oblivion to emerge.

Nice article with a cool related myth. I wonder though if Magic in your world is written as magick or is this a spelling mistake ? :)

No mistake. Fun fact? The original spelling for "magic" was actually magick back in the day. Eventually, they decided to drop the "k" from it since there were two versions of magick at the time: card and hat tricks (magic) and witchcraft (magick).
