Silverhills

Silverhills is an exclusively elven village that remains from before it was absorbed into the Kingdom of Daly.  It contains a high proportion of earth magic users who use their skills to pull the silver directly from the earth without mining, and craft it into beautiful and magical items.  There are strong guards and wards around the village, and the only way to get to it is to hire an elven guide from the Order of Rangers at New Strawm.

Demographics

100% elf

Government

None- the elves of Silverhills have various small groups that have dedicated responsibilities and assume all duties and decisions relevant to those areas.

Defences

The high number of ancient elves here mean there are some phenomenally skilled fighters and mages, easily enough to defend the village of anything short of an army- but they rely more on the wards and arcane guards surrounding the village to keep enemies and monsters at bay than their fighters.

Industry & Trade

The magics wielded by the elves of Silverhills are more than sufficient to give them a life of ease without requiring much hard work, as many of their needs are taken care of through use of spells and cantrips.  They make art and magical items more as a hobby and means of perfecting their craft than from any need for the funds, but are happy to share their works with the world and pay their taxes to Sunbury for the good of the less fortunate in the province.

Infrastructure

Elegant windmills and a series of cisterns and canals mean this elegant elven village is filled with cool breezes and bubbling water.  Small restaurants and elegant courtyards for socialising replace the taverns found in many other locations, and there is a thriving industrial area a little way outside the main village where jewellers and arcanists work as they wish.

Assets

Silver and gems are brought forth from the earth as needed.

Guilds and Factions

Although the provincial council is technically in command, in reality they have no direct oversight in Silverhills and it is one of the few villages where the election requirements for an Alderman do not apply, the elves having a working system of governance that resists modern conceits and relies instead on learned expertise.

Tourism

Very little- a few guesthouses at the edge of the village provide accommodation for those few lucky enough to earn a visit to Silverhills, but 'tourist' trade a s such simply does not exist.

Architecture

Elegant, tall buildings with shining white walls and shimmering green tiles rise above gardens and courtyards filled with plants.  Narrow canals wind through the streets with many small, fanciful bridges crossing them, and the paths are paved with flat, dressed stone tiles.  There is only one 'road' through the village, and it is more a place for festival celebration than transport, as it goes nowhere and has elegant silver poles with strings of dancing lights spaced evenly down it's whole length.

Geography

Perched atop the largest and most northerly of the Wuscayuse hills, Silverhills benefits from a warm, dry climate most of the year, but with enough cooling breeze that the air never feels oppressive.  From the village you can see for hundreds of miles around, as it is surrounds on North, East and West with endless rolling plains.

Natural Resources

Silver and gems from the hills, oak from Cadwell Woods and beech, birch and ash from the Thirteen Mile Woods,  game as needed
