Ketchikan (Keh-ti-chan)
This small village is only fully occupied part of the year, typically around the large festivals. The rest of the time, the tribes who 'occupy' it tend to roam the vast expanse of the Kanab Flats. This means the village fluctuates from less than 50 individuals to well over 50,000 during festivals and solstice celebrations.
Demographics
90% Goliath, 10% other
Government
Council of elders, mostly ousted Tribe Leaders and elderly Skywatchers
Defences
Although old, these goliaths were the most feared for a reason. It is a foolhardy foe who starts trouble here.
Infrastructure
One longhouse acts as a place of hospitality for visitors and travellers, and most other needs in the village are taken care of via hunting, cottage gardens and gifts from the tribes.
History
The meeting place for the Goliath tribes for around 1000 years, Ketchikan exists as a concept more than a place, with no real permanent buildings but rather a continual ebb and flow of tents as new residents arrive and the older ones walk into the wilderness to die. Although it is marked on the map, it could be anywhere within a 50 mile radius of the map location.
Tourism
STRONGLY discouraged
Architecture
Hide tents and longhouses made from the bones and antlers of their best trophies are the general aesthetic here.
Geography
Typically located within 20 miles of the road between Mogil Bay and Sunbury, Ketchikan sits on the endlessly flat plains of the Kanab Flats, among the waist high grasses.
