Federation Adventurer
tories tell of the one Federation soldier who was pardoned during the Second Federation War. The soldier was part of the forces that raided Sage's Rest. After seeing the atrocities his kinsmen were inflicting on the children of the local wizard school, he took some children and hid them away in a nearby homestead and stayed with them until their safety was ensured. When found, the soldier was questioned and in a rare turn of benevolence from the then Emperor, was fully pardoned and offered citizenship in the Empire. Those present state that the Emperor saw the divine blessing of the Avanís watching over the battle-scarred war veteran, and chose to follow in their wisdom. Once a heartwarming fable about cooperation and humanity, that story has seldom been told in recent years with many brewing tensions between the Dawning Empire and the The Orodáni Federation. However the story came to light again in the last few years when local plainsmen amongst the Thousand Mile Steppe claimed to see an ancestor of the soldier, many generations later, wearing a fiendish mask and hunting down creatures of The Maw.
